Nijigasaki – Diver Fes feat. Karin (B) [09/19/2022]

Karin Asuka, the queen diva herself, is a core idol from Nijigasaki High School. Bearing a bold and mature look, Karin acts as a dominant member of the school idols there luring fans with her powerful voice and elegant dances.

I’d like to thank realhours for their assistance in making this deck.

Our beautiful lady Karin appears above in her performance outfit. Karin has a climax clock kick combo, but more importantly, her on play from hand effect lets you pay her costs to search out an event to hand and also place a marker under herself to pay for event costs.

Diver Fes above is the other deuteragonist of the deck. This event requires a Karin [果林] on the field to be played. It sends itself to memory and then allows you to stock the top card of your deck. Most importantly, then it deals damage do your opponent equal to the amount of this specific event in your memory while pumping one of your characters’ power by 1000 for the turn. To simply put it, you want as many of these in memory as possible to deal multiple instances of damage to your opponent. Furthermore, the power boosting capabilities for Karin’s clock kick effect and its ability to be searched as an event by the same card makes it quite synergistic.

For our early advantage, we have two choices here. Ema lets you filter the top four cards of your deck with her climax in play to add a character or event to hand. If you have an event in the waiting room, she gains 3000 additional power until the end of your next turn. Karin is a Shima-kai that can target herself as long as you reveal a character or event from the top of your deck when she swings. Additionally, on attack with her climax in play, she chooses one of your characters to gain a clock swap to hand effect on reverse.

Emma is situationally larger than Karin on average. Her power condition will generally be easy to maintain, especially since you can use her combo ability to mill an event into the waiting room. However, her selection is largely limited to the four cards off the top of your deck. Karin’s power granting ability can be given anywhere assuming you meet her condition. She can stack her ability for a single character if need be. However, her hand gains are limited to your clock, but on the plus side, she can add anything from your clock to hand including climaxes for the following turn.

Another comparison to be made is that Ema’s climax is an arc trigger, letting you salvage climaxes. Karin’s climax is a book trigger, potentially letting you draw the events you wish to hand.

If you do choose to go with Ema, you’ll have access to this nice arc support to help generate further hand advantage when you trigger arcs.

Kanata is a great card to both check the top of your deck and hand fix in the early game with excess copies of Karin’s event in hand. Her power minimization also helps with early reverses and with late game clock kick power comparisons. Ema, in the center, is here to build extra stock on reverse with climax in play. The Ema to the right is a filter for an event to hand and also a level 0 bottom deck reverser.

Now the backrow brainstorm for the deck is interesting in terms of your general options. Ema is a draw brainstorm with an additional power pump on climax play effect. Kanata, on the other hand, is a constant power assist to level 0s in front of her. She is a tap two brainstorm, but she can allow you to look through the top three cards of your deck if you hit the brainstorm and add any card, potentially grabbing you the event for the late game. Kanata, if chosen, can allow for a far more aggressive early game while Ema has a cheaper brainstorm cost with a more random hand gain.

The last card I’d like to mention is the Karin above. Karin is a nice beater during your turn, but more importantly, when she reverses her opponent, you can pay her costs and check the top four cards of your stock to add a card to hand. In essence, this is a rare stock filter, helping you grab any events or other important cards tucked away in the stock.

Backups aren’t as needed in this deck. Most power is only reliant on your turn rather than your opponent’s. However, if you choose to run backups, Kanata is a nice free 2000 power backup. Karin is a specialized rest counter with an event discard cost which could save you from some heavy damage.

With the power of Kanata brainstorm, should you run it, you have a much more powerful level 0 game in terms of power than most other decks. You can abuse this to your advantage and snipe your opponent’s weak cards with the level 0 Karin clean cut. Try and fiddle your way into having the proper hand and stock set-up for level 3. Remember that Karin’s event does refund a stock on play. Dance along to Karin’s mesmerizing moves and show them the power of this fantastic diva.
