Touhou Project – Blazing Star, Marisa (Y) [06/06/2026]

The brightest star cometh like a flying comet, speeding down the alleyways between the stars of the night sky. Fear not, she declares as the little witch leaves a trail of light in her wake, a sign of hope, mischief, and youth.

Marisa conducts her moves twice, one primary attack followed by a sneaky secondary blow. The moment she debuts on the battlefield, you may perform her discard and draw effect twice. Following that, with her signature spell, Blazing Star, Marisa pays a hefty cost that allows her to channel her magic together and deal a massive blow to your opponent’s clock twice. Boasting with pride and haughtiness, Marisa’s dominating energy allows you to choose any number of your choice to inflict to your opponent.

If you haven’t noticed, Marisa’s combo does require you to sacrifice a character on your stage as part of her costs to perform her ability. Now, this is a downside, especially if you wish to perform her attack multiple times. Luckily, thanks to Mokou above, we can render that part of the cost relatively reduced since Mokou has inherent clock encore. By trading life, we can just bring Mokou back and repeatedly sack her again to pay for Marisa’s costs (R.I.P. Mokou).

In the early game, using her Master Spark, Marisa scours through the top three cards of your deck, nabbing either a character or event to hand. And then, you may rearrange the other two cards. If Marisa triggers a climax, you may perform a draw and discard ability.

As an eight choice deck, we have plenty of choice supports that will grant us a unique advantage. Alice’s brainstorm can bounce back to hand for free on play of a choice climax, letting us rearrange and fix the top two cards of our deck while empowering a character for the turn. Junko acts as a means to make extra stock, letting you put the top card of your deck to stock on her attack if it is level one or higher if you have a climax in play. Lastly, Patchouli Knowledge is a free climax swapper for any choice climaxes.

Marisa also brings her own set of support to the table. 1/0 Marisa can ensure that we have a climax each turn if need be if we can pay her exuberant costs. Marisa in the center can transform extra cards in hand to additional stock while also refreshing our deck if we are in a terrible position. Lastly, Marisa looking bored is a search Riki profile on play that rewards you for potentially clocking a climax by refunding you a stock from the top of your deck.

Since Marisa’s early combo can grab any event, we can grab this event above that lets us cheaply remove two of our opponent’s front row characters and send them back to hand.

While our defensive power is on the weaker side, Kogasa can be a way to help us either mill out or mill our opponents. Having a soul trigger also lets us freely add her to hand or use her as additional stock when we hit our choice icons.

As for some familiar friends to help out Marisa, we can begin with Inaba which can be an alternative brainstorm with a nice sinking ability. Keine stuns any cheated characters in our opponent’s backrow while also being a nifty Helmet profile. Miko simultaneously lets us scour through our deck for a card and also bounce an opposing card back to our opponent’s hand. Tewi is a classic clean cut profile to save our friends into the backrow. Hitori is a free costless level two that has a soul icon with her own mini-advantage combo with any choice climax in play. Lastly, big Marisa lets you declare a phrase and then heal both players once while giving herself additional power.

The little witch is bound to make mistakes, fall off her broom, and get into heaps of trouble. But none of that stops her from completing her mission. With the astral powers by her side and a little bit of magic, no hurdle is too much for the great Marisa Kirisame to clear.
