Da Capo – Student Council (Y/B/R) [03/14/2023]

When it comes to the most powerful in the school system, none can come close to the members of the infamous student council. From deciding matters belonging to the student body to potentially creating plans to counter a world-conquering villain, nothing is impossible for the student council.

The lovely Otome steals the spotlight as our modular finisher. Otome allows you to choose between two different abilities when her climax is placed on stage. You may either grant a character the ability to deal two damage once per turn when their damage is cancelled or allow a character to pay a cost to restand upon reversing their opponent. Otome is extremely versatile and can fluctuate her abilities based on your situation.

Enter in Anzu. Anzu has a very rare and interesting unique ability. Anzu is already a healer on play, but when she swings, you must reveal the top card of your deck, and if that card is a character with either Theatre (演劇) or Student Council (生徒会) trait, you may pay her costs and heal again. Now given that Otome can grant restand to a character, you can potentially heal up to three times on a single Anzu card.

Ricca has come to party with her own modular ability to help us in the early game. With her climax in play, she can either trigger twice for free or grant herself an Oboro ability. Ricca generates us our greatly needed extra stock and preserves our hand.

Some synergies within the student council archetype are shown here. Otomo and Yume are a pseudo Riko profile level zero stock reverser that also salvages a character whose level matches the number of copies of the finisher Otome in your waiting room. Mayuri with an umbrella is a global hand encore giver to all your student council characters. Mayuri snowboarding forces you to top check, add, and discard a card if that card is a student council character, perfect for fixing your hand for free. Both Mayuris are great as level fodder for Anzu later.

Now for some other shenanigans that the student council is more known for, we have the three above. Hazuki reveals the top card of your deck when she becomes reversed, letting you add it to hand if it is a level zero character. Charles in the center putting on sunscreen is a clean cut profile. The trick here is that you can simply reset Hazuki when she becomes reversed, allowing you to user her trigger again during your opponent’s turn. This doesn’t apply solely to Hazuki as you can use this trick for any on-reverse triggers such as that of Yume and Otome’s stock reverser. Lastly, Charles in her swimsuit is a key card to our strategy. Charles reveals the top card of your deck upon becoming reversed and sends herself to memory for free. This ability is important as this allows you to reveal and see information for your next swing. You can use Mayuri snowboarding to fetch the card, ensure Anzu’s heal check trigger, and check for all kinds of other abilities. Secondly, she also has a level zero shift ability to shift away any more unnecessary cards in hand.

Some other cards that work exceptionally well with Charles in her swimsuit are the two above. Otome gains a free soul when she swings if the top card revealed is a student council character. Charles herself reveals the top card of your deck when she swings, and if that card is a level zero character, you may pay her costs to salvage any character from your waiting room. Given that both timings for the cards above are when they swing, they can make use of Charles in her swimsuit’s reveal ability to ensure their abilities will go off.

The last card I’d like to point out is that of Otome here. Otome is a support that grants power in front while having a rare stock charge ability whenever your opponent salvages a character. When your opponent does so, you may blind stock the top card of your deck, helping to fuel stock for the late game.

Charles on her back is more than ready to defend your characters while helping hand fix and push you closer to a cancel as a Leafa counter. Charles and Ricca in swimsuits is a free backup that refunds their stock cost if you have a full field that matches their traits.

Ricca smiling is a salvage Riki profile that sends itself to memory upon being reversed and letting you grab any level one or lower character from your waiting room. Ricca worried is a spawning profile that lets you discard a climax to bring out a cost zero character from your waiting room that is your level or lower. In addition, you can send her to memory to check the top four cards of your deck and add a character to hand. Charles carrying a sign goes to stock whenever her damage is cancelled. Charles with a knife in hand is a drop search profile upon reverse that also sends itself to memory. Ricca proudly posing is a salvage brainstorm that also grants power to your characters when they reverse their opponents.

It is integral to load your deck with as many student council characters as possible. Anzu is very specific about meeting her top check requirements. Many other cards are extremely critical about getting that specific trait. Remember to make use of the timings on Charles in her swimsuit. In addition, Otome is modular, meaning you can always fluctuate how you’d like your finishing turn to go. Best of luck, and may the student council be watching over you always.
