Uma Musume – Mayonnaise and Rice (R) [10/15/2023]

I’ve never really understood this combination. I don’t even like mayonnaise much at all. I’m also not the biggest fan of plain rice. I will say that I do enjoy the casual spicy salmon roll. The mix of astringent flavors of the acidic hot sauce and the mayonnaise blend well together alongside the already fatty and powerful salmon. But to have it without the rice, I would be forced to face trial immediately.

“All you need is rice!” Spoken by a true connoisseur herself, Rice Shower steps up to the plate with her pair of chopsticks at the ready. As the spokesperson for “rice is life”, Rice is full of carbohydrates and is in her starting booth on the track. By reversing her opponent with her climax in play, Rice deals a single point of damage to her opponent, and then, if she has a marker and her field condition fulfilled, you may pay her costs to deal another three damage.

Bourbon in the center acts as the best inheritance target for Rice, granting her an additional 1000 power boost and also protection from backups for the turn. Additionally, you may look at the top two cards of your opponent’s deck when she is played to give you further information for your first swing.

Mayano Top Gun flies in from above as the early advantage generating combo. As long as you meet her requirements, when her climax is played, you may reveal the top three cards of your deck and add a character from among them to your hand with the rest going to the waiting room. Mayano is great for filling our waiting room with prime targets if we were to hit a door climax. Additionally, she is an inheritance target which acts as an added bonus.

Marvelous Sunday is a great beater with a Taigei-esque ability on top of a free salvage when she dumps her inheritance marker after reversing her opponent. Nice Nature is a mix of an Amagi and mill runner profile, both potentially countering your opponent’s board while also fielding you hand. Wonder Acute is a level one or higher Riki profile on sent to waiting room, letting you filter through up to the top four cards of your deck and retain hand.

Another unique pairing is between daughter and mother, Teio and Rudolph. Teio is a stock flush profile on play that also has an innate ability to discard a copy of herself and pay a stock to deal a single point of damage when she swings. Rudolph is a level three assist that has a an on-play Rize ability. More importantly, she’s a bonder to Teio.

Some additional finishers can be found above beginning with Rudolph as our early play filter with an on-attack ability that grants her power and the ability to ping a single point of damage to our opponent on reverse. Kitasan Black is a great profile for potentially dealing free points of damage. Given the large flux of level one or higher cards in the deck, Kitasan has a good chance of dealing a large amount of damage and works very well with Bourbon, assuming we reveal level one or higher characters on her swing.

Hishi Amazon is on the prowl and strikes at your opponent when they front attack your characters. When you use her backup, you must mill the top three cards of your deck, helping create fuel for your salvage targets or potentially even refresh you into a new deck. Otherwise, any backup will work if you wish to use backups at all. Keep in mind that Marvelous Sunday‘s ability is on reverse but doesn’t state which turn, meaning she can proc her ability during your opponent’s turn as well.

Kitasan is a standard Chiyuri profile that also offers an on-play power pump to one of your characters, helping secure reverses. Machikane Tannhauser is a Riko profile that also forcibly mills you as well. Aston Marchen is a climax swap with additional power if she’s in the center slot of your front row. Super Creek is another inheritance giver that can read a startling 8500 power if you have a marker underneath her and meet her field requirements. Lastly, Narita Taishin cannot be reversed by cost zero cards while also acting as an on-play power pump to one of your characters.
