Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu Ka? – Goodbye and Welcome Home (B/R) [09/05/2023]

In Japanese, [ただいま] (tadaima) means to say goodbye, usually referring to when one’s loved ones or guests are leaving one’s residence. Alternatively, [おかえりなさい] (okaerinasai) means welcome back to one’s residence.

At the lovely coffee house of the Rabbit House, the sweet young girls are always welcome customers in and out the door, reminding them that home is always a short cup of joe away.

The lovely trio is proudly displayed here in their yukatas clearly dabbling in the joyous festive atmosphere as they wait upon the upcoming fireworks. Although technically a reprint of an older Chino, I thought the art on this version would be more thematic. Regardless, Chino lets you draw a card on-play and grants herself an additional 2000 power for the turn. More importantly, if she attacks with a climax in play, you can sack that climax to spawn her climax on the right from waiting room to stage. At the end of her attack, if her climax is in the zone, you may pay her costs and stand another character on stage.

When it comes to targets for our lovely trio, Cocoa provides a plethora of options. There are many ways to play around Chino’s combo, but keep in mind that you do need to play with her climax to have her re-stand ability. Cards that work well without a climax combo or have their climax combo abilities applied on-play of the climax are highly recommended. Since this deck will be utilizing both [ただいま] and [おかえりなさい], we will be restricting the choices in this deck profile with those two in mind.

Cocoa allows you to spawn her to stage from memory when [ただいま] is played in the climax zone and you are at level three. She’s a healer either when played from memory or hand. When she attacks, you may pay her costs to deal a single point of damage. The key here is that you can re-stand her with Chino’s ability to let her swing again and get another instance of that ping one damage. The other Cocoa shown above on the right is a healer on-play that also has the ability to discard a Rabbit House (ラビットハウス) character from hand when she’s played on stage or on-attack to mill the top nine cards of your opponent’s deck. This can potentially swing the game in your favour depending on the situation.

Cocoa above is our early advantage combo letting you freely add the top card of your deck if that character is a Dear My Sister (Dear My Sister) trait with her climax in play (ただいま). Keep in mind that her power is also reliant on having that same trait for your entire field and that she can only add that trait with her combo. The alternative level three Cocoa that mills nine does not carry said trait.

The lovely bread sister on the left, Mocha, arrives onto the scene with her Rize ability on reverse for Dear My Sister trait characters while also sending the level three Cocoa to memory from waiting room when she’s sent there. 2/1 Rize in the center is an assist to level threes while also granting additional global power to your level three Cocoa(s) and Chino(s). Lastly, 1/0 Mocha has an on-reverse blind stock ability if she reverses an opponent with Cocoa in memory.

GU/W94-080U Welcome! チノ

If there is a “Welcome! ココア”, it makes perfect sense that there’s also a “Welcome! チノ”. Chino is the deck’s specific brainstormer, letting you reveal five cards instead of the usual four, but she does come with the caveat of only letting you salvage hand if you hit either of her specific named climaxes, the climaxes for this deck. She does come with a niche ability to let you discard on climax play to discard a card to draw.

Chino also brings some nice additions to the family table. 1/1 Chino on the left is a neat beater that cannot be reversed by cost zero characters. 0/0 Chino is a draw Riki profile when sent to waiting room.

For backups, Chino is an anti-change backup that sends her target to the bottom deck. Keep in mind that you must discard blue characters for her ability. 1/1 Chino is a scry backup, letting you place the top card on top or bottom of your deck to push you closer to a cancel.

Our lovely server trio feat. Mocha loves nothing more than to serve. Chino is a potential free searcher, great for the early game, when she’s sent to waiting room. If you so happen to mill a climax with her forced mill ability, you may discard a card and search your deck for any blue character without paying stock. The Chimame-Tai is another target for level 3 Chino’s restand as you can pay its hefty costs to blow a large chunk of damage at your opponent when she swings. The trick-or-treat trio is an early play with burst power and the following ability to pay a stock to salvage a character upon reversing a level two or higher character during your turn. Additionally, they’re a discard and heal to stock on-play. 1/0 Rize is a free 7000 powered beatstick if you have Cocoa in memory. Lastly, Chibi Cocoa (or Rize) is a drop salvage that can go to stock when her damage is cancelled.

Chino finishes up her work as she prepares to head off towards the festival. Her eyes sparkle as the fireworks explode in the air, celebrating with her fellow friends. Together, the Rabbit House girls smile as they celebrate this moment in their youth, preserving it eternally within their memories.
