Hololive – Fishing for the Forbidden One (B/Y) [03/16/2023]

Fisher’s log 400X- Today I set sail to fish for a legendary creature that inhabits the forbidden seas. Based on the reports I have gathered in the nearby port, many sailors say this beast has a particular cry that is infamous among those who know of its existence. The cry’s infamy is not without reason: it is a sign of danger, the creature is primed to attack, and its assault will prove to be equally relentless and vicious.

Fisher’s log 400X- Ancient records tell that the creature I’m currently hunting does have a name; many who had the misfortune of encountering this creature have named it Gura. Even though there are only two in recorded existence, you must tread carefully when entering its territory. If spotted, Gura will attack with immense burst power, and its signature combo will gnaw its victims with a burn two attack. This initial onslaught is then followed up by two potential ping ones with the extra pings only occurring if the Gura mills cards with soul triggers from the top of the deck.

Fisher’s log 401X- I should be sailing in the right direction as legends state, but the legendary beast I hunt is often accompanied by an equally terrifying entity that governs death. This avatar of death, known as Calli, takes a page out of Gura’s abilities with her effect also reliant on milling cards with soul triggers. When she attacks her combo, she may mill up to four cards, and from the murky depths, salvages a character whose level is equal to the number of milled cards with a soul trigger.

Fisher’s log 401X- Today I almost capsized from an unexpected encounter with an eldritch observer; this observer, the explorer Mumei, has been fabled to have watched over the world since the dawn of civilization itself. When her weaker form attacks, her combo reveals the top card of the deck and adds that card to hand if it’s a character. After revealing a character, you must sacrifice a card from hand and salvage a character. When her stronger form slays her opposition, her combo allows you to pay a hefty cost, which includes sacrificing her climax. Once the deed is done, she sends up to three cards from your opponent’s waiting room to the top of their deck and then deals five damage.

Both Callie and Mumei complement the shark in their own way. Callie mills the deck and can gather more resources while Mumei has more potential finishing power by having her own finisher and a climax with a soul trigger. Ultimately, whichever one is paired with Gura depends on whatever the shark demands.

Fisher’s log 401X – My fishing attempts have not yielded many results, but I am still determined to catch the legend. Thus, I will continue to prepare my bait and cast my lines. At the start of your climax phase, Callie allows you to clock a character from waiting room, and if done so, you may search your deck for a character and discard a card from hand. Ina can also clock a character from waiting room at the start of your climax phase, and if done so, she performs a scry ability and lets you salvage a character when she reverses her opponent. Rounding off the clocking trio, Ame can also clock a character from waiting room at the start of your climax phase, and when she reverses her opponent, she puts the top two cards of your deck into stock.

Fisher’s log 401X – Casting my lines and preparing the bait has taken a lot out of me; in these trying times I must utilize my rations to keep my sanity. As the three previously mentioned cards all contain an ACCELERATE [加速] ability, Kiara’s backrow support provides additional rewards for using that keyword. When you use an ACCELERATE effect, Kiara can rest herself and stock a character from your waiting room. Along with providing additional stock, she allows you to look at the top card of your deck at the start of your climax phase and acts as a level assist.

Fisher’s log 402X – The longer I remain alone out on the open seas, the more I think I’m beginning to understand the ravenous mannerism of the creatures that lurk below. When Ame is sent to waiting room, she performs a Rize effect that targets cards with a soul trigger. Irys’ search brainstormer pumps additional burst power whenever you trigger a card with a soul trigger.

Fisher’s log 402X—My fishing skills must be getting sloppy. My past fishing attempts have resulted in some life-threatening close shaves. However, luck must be on my side since I seem to get out by the skin of my teeth. Along with protecting your characters, Kiara’s backup allows you to clock a character from waiting room to perform an Akatsuki effect while giving additional power as well for doing so. Keep in mind that the Akatsuki effect uses the ACCELERATE keyword, so it can also trigger Kiara’s backrow effect.

Fisher’s log 4XXX – Another day, another catch. These things don’t even resemble fish anymore, but if they come from the sea, I’m calling them a fish. Calli is a Musashi profile; since both Gura and Mumei’s finisher are restricted in how many copies can be played, Callie can help finish the opposition as an off-finisher. Kronii can exchange a copy of herself in clock with a blue card in hand. Her on-play effect can refresh the deck, helping us fill the deck with soul triggers. Ina at the beach is a level three killer, and her on-play effect can stock a level one or lower card from the top of your deck. Ame in her detective outfit can bounce to hand at the start of your opponent’s draw phase. Ina in casual wear is a climax swapper with an on-play effect that re-arranges the top two cards of your deck. Ame at the beach is a burst power early play stock healer. Kronii at the beach has an on-play effect that swaps a card in your hand with a card in your clock.

Fisher’s log 4XXX – I don’t know why I’m still writing in this thing or why I’m still even out here. I don’t even know how long I’ve been out on the waters. All I know is I think I’m losing it. In the past few days, all I’ve had is this constant ringing in my ears. I can’t have a single minute without hearing “a”; all I want now is to see this blasted shar-. (It seems the fishing log ends there)
