The “Coinflip” Profile

This profile carries a rather silly name for its chance based effect. The “coinflip” isn’t really a specific set card profile, but rather profile that is class for a number of different cards that generally carry a similar condition.

“Coinflip” effects generally refer to effects where the ability condition is based upon a chance factor rather than a guaranteed condition. In such a case, decks that accommodate these effects usually try to ensure that decks are built in a way to have a greater chance of getting off these abilities. The value for completing and winning the “coinflip” provides a very useful effect such as having some form of retaining hand or other resource at little to no cost.

Though not necessarily a coinflip in the meaning of having the ability check a sort of heads or tails (50/50) scenario, the coinflip ideally tries to infer a chance of at least 50% or more for the effect to function. They can be a relatively high risk high reward card depending on the situation.

Newer coinflip profiles are usually easier to accomplish, having a higher chances of their random condition being fulfilled. Alternatively, their resulting ability or base power may be higher while retaining the same conditions. Additionally, effects that also rely on some cancel ability can also be considered to be coinflips.

Coinflips are never truly coinflips. They are more or less raised with a higher chance depending on the build and deck provided. Manipulation of deck and triggers and the use of additional other cards can help to modify the success rate of said “coinflip”. When all is said and done, despite the way that coinflips generally seem gimmicky, they do get the job done. Sometimes the extra risk pays off with great value.
