Re:Zero – Valentine’s Runner Up 2024: Rem (B) [02/26/2024]

I love Rem with all my heart. Rem is perfect. There is nothing more precious or deserving of my care and attention than Rem. All I wish is to make her smile each and every day.

Harnessing the warm summer rays and enjoying her time on the beach, Rem in a swimsuit is the finisher of choice. Once per turn, at the end of her attack with her climax in play and you pay her costs, Rem can restand for a second performance, closing off the game with her second swing.

As the famous saying goes: “No pain, no gain”. Look at Rem’s muscles. You can clearly tell she’s a weightlifting champ. Rem’s early combo provides both stock and hand at the cost of a reverse and a bit of self-inflicted damage. Furthermore, after succeeding, Rem also pumps the power of one of your other characters, helping with other reversals.

Rem and her sister in the bath is a great addition to ping some extra points of damage. Furthermore, she has an additional ability to pay a cost and snipe her reversed opponents to the top of your opponent’s deck to better increase the odds of securing damage. Rem also has a specialized early play on the right that only works if you have a complete field of Rem. This card helps you filter through your deck and grab the pieces you need.

No Rem deck is fully complete without the oni package. People have this mistaken belief that Rem is only gentle, kind, and caring. Behind her sweet demeanor, Rem hides a powerful demonic entity on the inside. Firstly, Rem acts like her ordinary self as depicted in the card on the left which is also a forced draw and discard. However, once you play her climax (shown below) and pay her costs, Rem transforms herself into her 14000 power form in the center.

Rem’s center form unleashes her pent-up energy and releases everything in an aggravated swing. Growing out her horn and literally gaining the Oni (鬼) trait, Rem rampages on your board, smashing her enemy into submission. In this form, Rem has a number of triggered abilities. The first appears when she swings with her climax in play (the same climax as the 1/0 Rem) as you reveal the top card of your deck, and if that card is a character with Rem [レム] in its name, you may bottom deck a level three or lower character from your opponent’s back row. Finally, at the start of your encore phase, Rem tires out and returns to her more stoic form as she sacrifices herself. However, as she enters the waiting room, you may pay her additional costs and spawn in the 3/2 Rem from the right from your waiting room onto any slot on your stage in rested position.

3/2 Rem herself is an enhanced support that grants 2000 power to characters with Rem in their name in front of her. When she enters the stage either from hand or through Oni Rem, you may draw two cards, discard two cards, and blind stock the top card of your deck. Additionally, at the end of your turn, you may pay her costs and heal the top card of your deck to hand, effectively undoing the self-inflicted damage dealt by Oni Rem.

Some final cards to add to assist Rem are shown above. Rem holding hands with her sister is a Rize profile upon reverse that adds any character with Rem in it’s name. Additionally, you may resonate it with the level three finisher Rem to grant it additional power at the start of your climax phase. Rem in her ultimate penguin pyjamas is a Chiyuri profile that checks for any characters with Rem in its name.

If you’d like to protect your Rem better than Subaru ever could, backups could serve as nice defensive measures. The level zero backup on the left is an on-play power pump on field which can help with empowering your level one combo pieces. The Rem on the right is a Leafa backup, perfect for helping you with filtering your hand and getting you closer to cancels.

Rem has plenty of cards to choose from, so feel free to look around and pick your best girl additions. Birthday Rem is a costless oversized beater and remains 3500 if all your characters are Rem, and considering how cute the card is, it is fundamental to run at least one. Rem smiling in her maid outfit is a burst powered clean cut profile that gets power for the turn if you reveal a character from the top of your deck when she’s played. Rem in a kimono is a tap self search brainstorm that also gives you the ability to check the top card of your deck at the start of your climax phase. Rem with her sister is a level zero reverser that also has a Helmet profile ability. 3/2 Rem comes out early and gives you healing while growing in power each time it reverses an opponent. Rem in a wedding dress pumps power on play and also hand filters when she swings.

Remember, always protect best girl!
