Kaiju No. 8 – Engaging Twintail (Y) [08/28/2025]

I don’t think there’s anything more paired in terms of well known anime tropes than that of blonde and twin-tails. I don’t really know much of the series, but from what my friend told me, Kikoru is a very tough young girl looking to prove to herself that she can stand on her own two feet. I also wrote this post to encourage his broke ass to spill out money to buy the series.

Kikoru’s finisher is a very efficient card that manages to search out potential copies of herself from your deck. On top of having an on-play search, Kikoru’s powerful finishing ability rewards you for filling your deck with soul icons. By paying her costs, which also include markering her own personal weapon from waiting room, you may mill the top two cards of your deck and ping your opponent for four for each soul icon revealed from the two cards milled.

The event that Kikoru mentions is shown above. Kikoru’s event is a Basketball event profile that lets you salvage a character based on the number of soul icons milled. Kikoru’s event has a bonder through the 1/0 Kikoru to the right.

To pair with our late game combo, Kikoru steps up again in the early game, helping us modulate our advantage generation by choosing between hand or stock (if you choose stock, Kikoru pumps herself up with some extra power). Kikoru does have a full board condition so do keep that in mind. Another reason, aside from flavour choice, we are using Kikoru is that her combo possesses a soul icon, which helps with our level three finisher’s checks.

1/0 Kikoru above here is an essential component to the deck. She’s a global assist during your turn, but more importantly, Kikoru gives all your choice triggered climaxes a soul icon, making climaxes into valid check targets for your finisher while also helping you push damage upon triggering them.

The most important part of Kikoru’s combo is checking for soul icons. As such, we can supplement this need through the use of Kikoru’s 1/0 vanilla shown above. And yes, if you are wondering, we are running this card solely for its soul icon. It does have some beneficial use beyond being on field. Especially with the Basketball event, Kikoru is a great way to increase your chances of helping to filter for what you would want. The right card works to shuffle back the corresponding up to two copies of 1/0 Kikoru to the bottom of your deck. At first, that may seem a bit underwhelming, but, especially in the late game, 3/2 Kikoru shuffles your deck as you search, making sure to shuffle 1/0 Kikoru around, increasing your odds of potentially milling them for her effect. 0/0 Kikoru also has an added bonus of pumping large amounts of power on play to one of your other characters for the turn.

Kikoru’s adoptive father carries some of his own synergies to support his adoptive daughter. One of his most interesting cards is that of his 1/1 level assist. Its other ability lets you marker a card from the deck on play (assuming it is a character) and then, he gains the permanent ability to bounce your opponent’s cards back to hand by paying a stock and tapping himself. This can be great to push damage or to bounce annoying threats on your opponent’s board. His Helmet profile lets you marker a character from waiting room under any Isao [四ノ宮功] character without a marker, thereby guaranteeing the condition for the level assist if needed.

As we wrap up, Kikoru’s backup can be used to either offensively mill your opponent or defensively mill yourself. More importantly, it has a soul icon for 3/2 Kikoru’s checks.

Kikoru has some other tools of her own to facilitate her game plan. 0/0 Kikoru being shocked is a spammable check three, add one brainstorm that also flies to stock when your opponent plays a climax. 0/0 Kikoru staring intensely flickers one of your opponent’s characters to memory and is a Rize profile when reversed. Kikoru drinking juice is a global support on your turn while also being a draw brainstorm. 3/2 Kikoru feeling pressure is an off-finisher that has an Icy Tail ability that also checks for level zero cards. 1/0 Kikoru reveals the top card of your deck on play to give power to one of your characters and is also a climax filter. 0/0 winking Kikoru is a search Riki on play that has an alarm ability to give one of your characters stock kick on reverse.

I was taught the other day that Kaijus do indeed urinate from their nipples.
