Revue Starlight – Bout of Determination (G/B) [01/03/2024]

The grand world of competitive sports is a spectacle to behold. As races and matches kick off, the audience finds themselves enamoured in the heat of the competition. Each competition tells a story as the competitors aim to stand victorious on the podium with rivals pushing each other to their limits.

To bask in the glory of first place, Mahiru will thoroughly strike down any competition that lacks the resolve to grasp victory. Once her finisher reverses her opponent, her cost can be paid to clock kick her opponent while also allowing you to scry the top card of your opponent’s deck after. To help secure her reversal, Mahiru strikes with overwhelming burst power while locking her opposition in place.

Stepping up to the plate, Mahiru lunges forward to deliver a knockout. When she attacks, her combo allows you to reveal the top card of your deck and add it to hand if it’s a character or the “Specially Made Gold Medal” event. Additionally, outside of her combo, at the start of your climax phase, her ACCELERATE ability allows you to clock a character from waiting room, and spawn a level zero friend from waiting room and granting herself power for the turn (a boxing match needs at least two).

On the receiving end of Mahiru’s assault, Hikari musters her strength to face her opposition with grit. On-play of the same climax as Mahiru, Hikari allows you to search for Mahiru’s finisher while blind stocking the top card of your deck.

Mahiru gifted Hikari the resolve and courage to move onward to her stage of fate. To play the event, you must have three or more characters on stage, and once played, the event allows you to play the level three Hikari from hand. When played from hand, if the medal event is in your waiting room, Hikari gains immense cross-turn power. Additionally, at the end of the turn that she’s played from hand, and she heals the top card of your clock at the start of your encore phase. At the start of your climax phase, if you have six or less hand, you may perform an ACCELERATE [加速] cost to refresh your deck. Mahiru’s bonder to the event is also shown in the center.

Mahiru’s backrow level assist plays well with a few aspects of the deck. First of all, she is a bar filter that allows you to ditch a card to salvage a card from your clock and place the top card of your deck into your clock if you filter. Secondly, also once per turn, if your clock has four or more cards, whenever you use an ACCELERATE effect you may pay her costs to heal. Mahiru is a force to contend with, and if played early enough, she’ll be a wonderful assist to compliment your field and assist you throughout the long game.

Mahiru’s backup allows you to discard a card from your hand to salvage a character when her backup is played, serving as a handy way to discard excess climaxes and hand-fix while retaining board.

Some suggestions are shown above. Mahiru raising her medal is a search Riki profile that grabs level one or lower characters. Hikari’s brainstorm is a salvage brainstorm that also grants level one or higher characters additional power in front during your turn. Young Hikari is an on-play event Rize profile, serving as another means to get the medal event while also milling your deck. 2/1 Mahiru is a clock reverser for early-played cards and has a chance-based ability to remove an additional character if you mill a climax for her mandatory on-play mill ability. Hikari’s cut-out is a coinflip profile that can bounce back to hand during your opponent’s draw phase. Mahiru’s cut out is a standard drop search profile. Young Hikari presenting a crown shaped emblem is a forced refresher if you pay her costs and also goes to stock when your opponent plays a climax.

Stepping up to the stage with an innocent smile, Mahiru will compete and fight with her utmost strength and determination. If her opposition lacks the determination that she has, she won’t hesitate to force her opponents off the stage with her pulverizing blow.
