Revue Starlight – A Childhood Promise Fulfilled (R/B) [09/10/2023]

The industry of theatre and live performance can be a cut-throat competition, and amidst the chaos, only those who can weather the storm and brave the desolate path can reach stardom. On her journey to reach the stars, Karen would succumb along her path, and when all had been lost, a familiar second wind appeared, giving her a second chance.

Reborn with a renewed determination, Karen joins her childhood friend as they take to the stage for the final act. Karen’s finisher allows you to choose one of two effects: the first is to burn two, and the second is a Moca ability that checks the top three cards of your opponent’s deck while giving Karen a power boost. To propel Karen’s potential to greater heights, Hikari’s combo aims to help Karen get in more attacks. At the end of her attack, Hikari allows you to pay a hefty cost to send a copy of, Karen’s other combo, “Reunion, Karen Aijo” from stage to waiting room, doing allows Karen to have an encore performance as her finisher is spawned standing in place of Karen’s previous combo. While Hikari’s effect is quite costly, when paired with Karen’s modality, they combine together to create a flowery finish.

Karen’s level three killer is the required combo needed for Hikari’s finisher effect. Her combo allows you to stock a character from waiting room and add the top card of your deck to your hand if it’s a character or the level three event in the center. The event pumps power and allows you to choose one of two effects: the first allows you to deal one damage, and the other allows you to salvage Karen’s door climax. Make use of these cards to ensure Karen can put on a stunning performance.

To help build towards their finishing act, Hikari’s combo allows you to grab characters while milling your deck. As long as there is another character on stage when she attacks, Hikari allows you to check up to four cards and add a character from among them. Paired with her ability to gain more power based on the number of characters on your field, Hikari should have no trouble gathering hand while also contesting the stage.

To help the deck’s play go smoothly, Karen has several deck manipulating effects to alter you and your opponent’s decks in your favour. Her card on the right is an on-play salvage Riki profile that targets level one or lower characters; additionally, she allows you to surveil the top card of your deck. Her card on the right gives burst power to any character that enters the stage, and she can also rest herself to let you look and re-arrange the top three cards of your opponent’s deck.

Considering that the deck carries a wide amount of cards that are level one and above, we can make good use of Hikari’s cards that benefit from this theme. During your turn, her salvage brainstormer on the left pumps power to any level one or higher characters in front of it. During your opponent’s draw phase, her card on the right can bounce itself back to hand if the top card of your deck is level one or higher.

To help remove pesky opposing cards, Karen has multiple memory kick backups all shown above in their various costumes. Feel free to choose whichever looks the nicest to you in any combination as you wish.

The duo of Karen and Hikari can potentially help you hand-fix cheaply if you are lucky enough to mill a climax when they are sent to the waiting room. Karen’s level zero introducing herself to you is a turbo hand fixer that lets you discard two cards to search for two characters while granting herself power for the turn. Young Hikari acts as another means of grabbing the level three event as she is an on-play Rize profile that targets events. You can slot in the tomato event as another target for Hikari’s event Rize profile mentioned the sentence before. The event itself goes to stock when played while also giving one of your characters the ability to choose their trigger when they attack from the top two cards of your deck (the other card is sent to the waiting room). Be aware that if you plan to run this event, it can’t be targeted by Karen’s level 2 combo.

As actors answer the call, they flock to the limelight with the audience fixing their gaze on the stage. As darkness falls and the curtain unveils, everyone awaits in anticipation for the lead actor to take their place at position zero.
