Arifureta – Magic Field Trip (B) [06/12/2023]

It was your average day for your average class of Japanese high school students, minus the magical portal that spawned during homeroom. Little did they know, the updated curriculum mandates all classes that exceed the threshold of blandness to be isekai’d. To grow beyond their generic selves, students now study the rules of this magical world any failing marks may result in death.

With her B+ in healing magic, Kaori is adept at supporting her team, and as such, she can be found at the front lines keeping her classmates safe. Kaori’s combo prioritizes survivability with her healing and aims to take out high powered threats with her burst power. When she takes the offensive, she protects your board by pumping power to all characters in your front row. With her ability to be early played through her EXPERIENCE condition, she can help keep you alive while reinforcing your defences.

To be early played, Kaori draws strength from her dear teacher and beloved Hajime. Hajime’s salvage Riki performs a salvage when he’s played or sent to waiting room, and he also gets burst power when played. Aiko is a climax filter that allows you to ditch a climax to perform a salvage whenever a climax is triggered. While on stage, she protects her class from burn one effects if there are two or more Classmate (クラスメイト) or Teacher (先生) characters. To help fulfill her EXPERIENCE requirement, Kaori allows you to swap a card in your level zone with a character from waiting room. Additionally, when her cost is paid, she summons a character from your waiting room (the character must be equal to or lower than your level).

As Kaori’s best friend, Shizuku is ready to leap into the fray to keep Kaori safe with her B- swordsmanship. During your climax phase, Shizuku readies her sword and slices through her opponent’s defences, decreasing their power based on the number of characters you have. For her combo, Shizuku sifts through the top four cards of the deck, adding a character from among them. After adding a character, she uses her quick draw to cut off one of your opposing character’s traits.

To help keep up with their offensive push, the class rallies forth as they force their enemies into a corner. Aiko is a Koume when reversed, and on top of that, she’s a memory flusher, forcing anyone with more than four cards in their memory, to empty their memory until four cards remain. Shizuku allows you to salvage a climax at the cost of sending one of your characters from stage to waiting room. When she attacks her cost can be paid and she deals two damage. Be sure to utilize these effects to get climaxes to loop your combos and pressure your opponent.

As a straight-A student, alpha chad Hajime doesn’t need any support from his classmates. His card on the left is a reverse bomb for level 0s while being an event Rize on-play. If you have three or more characters, Hajime’s event in the middle allows you to perform one of two effects. The first is to debuff one of your opposing characters by 1500 power, and the second option is to perform a Riko effect. Hajime’s event on the right utilizes his mouth-to-mouth technique to Pina a selected character. Additionally, he slightly digs through your deck using his draw and discard effect.

In terms of backups, Shizuku prepares her sword for a massive counterattack with a 2000 power buff. Hajime arms himself with his signature fish as he targets an opposing early-played character, knocking them to your opponent’s memory.

Further displaying her supportive abilities, Kaori’s assist pumps power to your level 3’s and gives the character in your center slot hand encore. Paired with her fellow harem member, Kaori and Yue’s card allows you to hand fix if the top card of your deck is a character. They also allow you to ditch a climax to perform salvage. Kaori in her swimsuit tries to get Hajime’s attention and allows you to scry three times; this can pair nicely with effects that revolve around the top card of your deck.

During their trip in this magical world, the class encountered various perilous and death-defying tests and assignments. Nearing the end of their field trip, they enter exam season where they are assigned a deadly battle against a god.
