“Love is painful, but beautiful.”
In the anime, “Kanojo, Okarishimasu”, Nanami Mami is infamous for showing up and interrupting the protagonist’s plan. She’s probably the most hated character of all time. But to me, Mami is just a misunderstood girl who is immature and seeking love.
As the main protagonist of this deck, Mami provides the finishing power. Her climax combo activates just after attacking, letting her check up to the top three cards of your opponent’s deck and discarding any to the waiting room, making it easy to connect damage for the next attack. Although two stock may seem like a heavy cost, her second ability allows you to trigger twice during her attack by discarding a card from hand, covering the cost for the climax combo.
While Mami tries to socialize with others, she finds companions from the deck along the way. The level one climax combo above adds a character to hand from the top four cards of the deck when Mami swings with her climax, helping to churn through the deck.
Most of the wonderful memories were discarded after her relationship with Kazuya ended. However, these memories help us grow and make us better. The cards above support Mami’s plan by finding the other cards we need throughout the game. The Riki Mami on the left searches any level one or lower character from the deck, helping to sculpt your hand in the early game. The Mami on the right helps to salvage any character from the waiting room while milling the deck as well.
Every girl has two sides, and Mami is no exception. Although people call out her two-faced personality, she is just acting like any other girl. She genuinely cares about the person she loves the most and gives a cold look to others.
As a way to preserve and contest board in the early game, both level zeros above will be our mainstay options. Mami on the left is a free 4000 power beatstick if we can maintain two stock or less. Mami on the right can rest itself once per turn if you reveal a level two or higher off the top card of your deck is level two or higher when she is reversed. Both cards perfectly represent Mami’s hot and cold personalities.
Those sweet words of Mami’s show a vulnerable side of her, lowering anyone’s guard. This level one attacker can efficiently spend one stock to gain both additional power and a whopping two soul. Mami glares at her opponents, sending them swiftly to their end in the early game or casually side for optimal damage.
This deck’s main brainstorm provides protection and power for your center character during your turn. It’s a perfect support character for the deck, just like how it portrays Mami as the center of perfection.
The level two game is where the deck shines best. Mami starts to show her true colour and truly acts on the offensive. The Mami on the left gains power during your opponent’s turn for each of your other characters while the Mami on the right gains an additional 6000 power boost on attack when the opposing character is level three or higher. Both these cards can change into each other respectively depending on the phase of the game. Just like a spear and shield, Mami is indomitable. Being soul triggers, they also benefit off of Mami’s choice triggers, letting you easily grab any piece to swap into the other.
Mami states that she had abandoned the hope of finding love; however, she’s not being honest with herself. The card above represents this behaviour very well; it gives the player the ability to look through the top x cards of the deck and then add one of them to your hand where x is equal to the number of your characters on field when she’s played from hand. This card is also an early play if you have two less climaxes in the waiting room. Mami shows here that she will never give up easily; she’s eager and always pushing forward, making sure that she completes her goals.
This very powerful event above tells the story: “It’s time to end”. This event searches up any Mami character and adds it to hand. Then it puts the level three finisher into play while giving her a 3000 attack boost. The message is very clear here: Mami wants to end your relationship with your opponent.
It is not easy to gain Mami’s trust, and the best way to gain her trust is to show honesty. This backup can look at the opponent’s hand when used, a perfect way to get information about your opponent’s hand and make sure they are not “cheating”.
Mami always presents her best sides in public. She always acts as her perfect self and never shows any negative emotion towards others. This causes lots of misunderstanding around her and makes it difficult for others to see that she’s truly a lovely person.
I love Mami. I do understand. She is just misunderstood by her haters. “The lack of courage of finding the one but still driven by the desire of being loved”, this is something I desire as well. We were all once afraid of something unknown, acting without rhyme or reason. We all make mistakes in the heat of passion. I will continue to support Mami on her journey to finding true love.
