Monogatari – Wrath of the White Snake (B/Y) [07/01/2023]

In times of trouble, try visiting your local shrine and place a prayer so it may be heard. Out of the many deities that watch from above, a small snake goddess dwells among them. Having made contact with a great snake apparition, Nadeko has achieved godhood and can be found happily waiting at her shrine.

Don’t let her frail and innocent appearance fool you; Nadeko is not a goddess that should be trifled with. When Nadako is played from hand or by her other level three’s card effect, she allows you to look up to three cards from the top of your deck and add a card from among them. Like a snake, Nadeko strikes at the most opportune moment, and when she attacks, her combo mills the top five cards of your deck. She then deals damage equal to the number of climaxes milled while gaining immense burst power.

Using her wholesome personality, Nadeko hides her true nature in broad daylight as she slowly whittles down her opponents until she gets the prime opportunity to go in for the kill. She carries a stock bomb on the left that also gains the ability to give a soul buff to one of your level one or higher characters on play if the finisher is in your level zone. Dawning her human appearance, her card on the right will get a static power and a level buff if her finisher is in your level zone.

As her opponent’s strength wears thin, Nadeko prepares her trap, entangling her opponents as she slowly knits their demise. When sent to waiting room, Nadeko’s early play allows you to spawn her finisher either from deck or waiting room; although, this process does come with a couple of conditions. First of all, her early play’s condition is related to EXPERIENCE as she requires you to have both her finisher and stock bomb in your level zone. Secondly, to spawn her finisher, Nadeko’s early play must have a marker which she gains when she’s played from hand as she will marker the event on the right if it’s in your waiting room. The event itself allows you to look up to four cards and add a character from them.

To help fulfill her early play’s EXPERIENCE condition, Nadeko has a couple of cards that can manipulate your level zone. When front attacked, her card on the left allows you to send it to waiting room to play the center 1/0 Nadeko from your hand. Nadeko’s card in the middle allows you to swap a card in your level zone with one in your waiting room when she reverses her opponent. When she’s played from hand, she’ll gain burst power that’s based on the number of characters on your board. Her card on the right allows you to level swap at the cost of sending the top card of your deck to clock on play.

Even at an earlier time from the base set years ago, Nadeko had a taste of the immense power that she would one day inherit. Human Nadeko helps you assemble cards in preparation for the arrival of her divine counterpart. Nadeko’s combo with her climax allows you to perform a search for a character when she attacks. Outside of her combo, when she’s played, she allows you to search for a copy of her climax if you fulfill her EXPERIENCE condition of four or higher in your level zone while also paying a stock.

Behind her innocent façade, the snake goddess continues to scheme her cruel ploys and contemplates how her victims will meet their end. Her card on the left pumps power to your center slot during your opponent’s turn. She carries a nifty spammable draw and discard ability as long as you are able to meet her stock costs. Her draw brainstorm on the right pumps power to your entire field during your opponent’s turn.

The almighty goddess sees no need for backups, but if required, she possesses a backup that can pump further power to yellow characters.

Human or god, Nadeko possesses a selection of cards that can help you get hand and bring down her divine wrath. Nadeko in the night sky gains burst power on play, and a cost can be paid to perform a search when she reverses a level two or higher opponent. If she is confronted by a level three or higher character, Nadeko can retaliate by opposing early played threats with her massive level three killer. Paired with the fire sisters, Nadeko absorbs their powers into herself, possessing a card with cheap hand encore.

On a whim, the snake goddess leaves the sanctuary of her shrine and greets her guest with a wholehearted barrage of stabs to the chest. When she has had her fill of bloodshed and death, she merrily heads back to her shrine and waits for more guests to arrive.
