Da Capo – Baseball with Sara (B/G) [03/14/2023]

With the assistance of her beloved Kiyotaka-senpai, Sara works hard in her baseball club to become the best she can be. As a young transfer student who skipped a grade, Sara must look to maintain her stance alongside her peers. Thanks to Kiyotaka’s guidance, she both gains the skills and confidence to be herself and succeed.

I’ll be blunt. Sara does not have a finisher combo, at least not yet. Instead, we will be attempting to rush our opponent as soon as possible while also maintaining field. Sara above is our early game combo. She charges your hand while swarming your opponent with soul. Additionally, if she does manage to stay on the field, at the start of your encore phase, Sara changes into her other form in the center, a card that normally has a demerit of potentially resting itself when played from hand.

While worried in her maid outfit, Sara has a cheap way of turbocharging your stock. As long as her event on the right is in memory, Sara on the left gains a permanent stock charge from the top of your deck upon reversing any character. The event itself carries an Akatsuki-esque ability and sends itself to memory. Additionally, while it is in memory, it gives permanent power during your turn to all your characters and helping her maid outfit variant reverse more targets.

Our sole finisher in the deck is a restand “combo”; however, Sara herself doesn’t have any climax-based finisher, so instead, we will opt to just finish our opponent by restanding on them. Whenever the character in the center slot of your front row attacks, you may pay Sara’s costs and restand her. Keep in mind that Sara must discard Newspaper (新聞) or Sports (スポーツ) characters. D.C. is a set with many varied traits and one of the largest, if not the largest card pool in the game, so do keep an eye on your characters’ traits.

The rest of Sara’s package involves filtering through the deck to fetch pieces as you need. Sara on the left is a drop searcher when she attacks. The other Sara is a filter on play with the top card of your deck.

One other small synergy is shown here. Sara on the left gains additional power and a level whenever an ACT【起】ability is used one per turn. The brainstorm on the right gives additional power once an ACT ability is used, something Sara can trigger herself when she uses her brainstorm ability.

Other end-game pieces like the two Sara above complement the deck in their own ways. Sara on the left is an early play can-trip that also carries large amounts of power. Sara on the right is an early play heal that gains burst power for the turn.

Sara above grants a character of your choice cross-turn power when you play a climax. Additionally, she is a climax filter whenever your characters trigger climaxes to help you salvage characters to hand.

One other card to consider is the alarm clock event shown here. You may pay the costs to clock yourself from the top of your deck, and if you clock a Sports (スポーツ) character [luckily Sara carries that trait] you may draw three cards, discard a card, and send the event to memory. This is a potential way to draw other events and maybe climaxes for a cheap cost.

In terms of backup, the best thematic choice is that of Sara presenting her White Day’s chocolate. In addition to defending your character, the backup also gives the character facing them an additional soul (so hopefully you’ll have a higher chance of cancelling).

In terms of other supportive cards, Sara crying freely mills the deck while also having a clock filtering ability. If Sara mills a climax from her forced mill two ability, you may lower the power of a character in your opponent’s front row by 1000. Sara feeding a cat with some bread is an interesting mill profile that gains both power and hand encore during your opponent’s turn if she mills a Sports character. Sara clutching her senpai’s shoulder is a global support that can also tap itself and pay a cost to untap another character. Sara near the window gains power whenever your opponent plays a character to stage and also has hand encore. Lastly, for the other climax of the deck, the Platinum Days climax is highly recommended as it contains Sara and works well with the climax filter support.

Just like Sara’s senpai, guide her gently with your hands in hers as she holds the baseball bat. Sink the ball and hit a home run!
