Re:Zero – Maid Oni – Ram Ver. (B/R) [01/17/2022]

The adorable mismatched oni twins in Re:Zero are part of the Emilia camp. Their jobs are to cater to their masters, Emilia and Roswall. The oni with the red hair is Ram who is a master when it comes to everything that’s considered household duties which include cleaning, cooking, and the occasional murder of threats. Rem is considered the clumsier sister but far superior when it comes to slaying her opponents.

Rem is the finisher of the deck. Bearing her maidly charms, Rem is a self-sufficient finisher that can potentially fetch her climax or other copies of herself with her check three and add one ability. Rem’s combo allows her to shuffle up to two cards from your opponent’s waiting room to the deck to give herself 3000 power for the turn. When she attacks, you may pay her cost to deal a single shot of damage to your opponent’s clock.

Ram is one of our two level 1 early advantage combos. She is permanently 5500 if you have at least two characters with Rem or Ram in their names. She is a reverse combo that charges extra stock from the top of your deck with her climax. She also allows you to specifically salvage the level 3 Ram after charging your stock as well.

Since our level 3 combo shares a combo with our level 1 combo, we can run another early combo to gain even more advantage. Ram above is a similar reverse combo to the other combo, but she gains burst power on-play and can salvage any character with her climax combo. While our other combo generates more stock and can set-up for our late game, she’s limited in hand advantage because she can only grab the level 3 Ram. This Ram above fixes that problem by letting us grab whatever we need for the upcoming turns.

The last card to mention regarding our level 3 Ram combo is the level assist above. In addition to being a level assist, Ram is also an on-play drop searcher that grabs the level 3 Ram finisher from the deck while also pumping one of your Magic (魔法) or Weapon (武器) characters by 3000 power for the turn.

The Ram to the left here is a very powerful global support for characters with Ram, Rem, and Roswall (not used here) in their name. Aside from power, Ram gives a nice top check effect whenever a Ram, Rem, or Roswall character is played from hand to stage. Lastly, her final ability is a repeatable climax discard ability to filter into any of the above named characters to hand from the waiting room.

Rem is a tap self search brainstorm with a nice top-check ability at the start of your main phase (card remains there). Lastly, the pixelized Ram on the is an on-play scry two and rearrange that also flies to stock whenever her damage is canceled.

The 1/0 Rem to the left pairs extremely well with the top-checker support Ram. During her attack, she allows you to choose your trigger, letting you decide if you wish to mill away the potential climax on top of your deck or whichever trigger you wish below it. The Rem in the center is nice as both a power pump in the early game and a way to potentially net hand through a little bit of luck. Rem on the right is a nice filter on-swing and a great power pump to assist our reverse combos.

In terms of early plays, the Rem on the left is a nice early play heal that can grow perpetually larger upon each reverse of its opponent. The other Rem on the right can be spawned out early through another Rem card. She is a large support for your Ram, Rem, or Roswall characters in front while providing them a hexproof ability as well. On-play, either from hand or its early play condition, she lets you draw two, discard two, and stock the top card of your deck.

Our secret ace-in-the-hole so happens to be this secondary finisher pairing above. When this card attacks, you can reveal the top card of your deck and if that card has Ram, Rem, or Roswall in its name, you can deal damage to your opponent equal to that card’s level. Furthermore, as another ability, if the oni duo reverses their opponent, they can pay the stock cost to stack a card from the opponent’s waiting room onto the top of their deck, securing damage for the level 3 finisher Rem’s single ping one ability on swing.

In terms of backups, the deck can run quite fine without them. Many of the deck’s strengths lies on the player’s turn rather than the opponent’s, but you can also give your opponent a nasty little surprise if you do wish to run a few. 0/0 Rem on the left is a rare level 0 backup with multiple upsides. While not being able to side attack, she is an on-play power pump to help with reversing, and while in hand, she can be used to cheat power onto an unsuspecting player and potentially punish reverse value cards such as that of a clean cut.

Rem’s 2/1 counter in the middle is a nice Leafa counter while the Ram on the right is a costless 2000 power counter only for the twins.

Rem and Ram have quite a bit of selection to choose from in regard to their card pool. Make sure to look around and see what catches your eye. Keep in mind that both your early game combos require reversing, so be sure to add cards that provide additional power pumps. Use their sisterly bond and housekeeping skills to bring a swift defeat to your opponent.
