Commonly Used Terms and Definitions

This page will cover commonly spoken terms that may be used throughout the articles. Some terms will be used in other card games as well. Card effects are not universally used, but these are some that players may use as lingo.

Game Actions:

  • Scry – Check top and place on top or bottom
  • Salvage – Take a card from the waiting room and add to hand
  • Search – Look into deck and add a card to hand
  • Refresh – Shuffle waiting room back into deck
  • Reveal – Show a card to your opponent
  • Heal – Place a card from your clock into another zone other than the level zone
  • Blind Stock – Place the top card of your deck and place it into the stock zone
  • Bond – Choose a specific card from waiting room and add to hand (card effect)
  • Tap/Rest – Turn character sideways 90 degrees (rendering that character incapable of attacking)
  • Mill – Place the top card of your deck into the waiting room
  • Hexproof – Cannot be targeted by effects (effects that specifically have “choose” or “target” in its text)

Card Effects:

  • Runner – A card that can move to another spot on the field during the start of your opponent’s attack phase
  • Brainstorm – A card that has a keyword effect of milling cards and letting you conduct an effect based on the number of climaxes milled
  • Drop Search/Salvage – A card that comes into play and lets you discard a card, pay a stock and add a card to hand (search = deck, salvage = waiting room)
  • Riki – A card that lets you pay a stock and clock yourself (place the top card of your deck into your clock zone) to let you add a card to your hand from another zone
  • Clean Cut/Kasumi – A card that lets you choose another one of your cards, rest it and place it to an empty slot in the backrow upon reversing its opponent (if backrow is empty, you still perform as much of an effect as you can)
  • Azusa/Akatsuki – A card that lets you discard a card and check top x and add a single card to hand
  • Chiyuri – A card that lets you discard a card and check top x and add a level 1 or higher card to hand when sent to waiting room
  • Moca – A card that lets you check top x of an opponent’s deck and rearrange cards (commonly discarding unwanted top cards to the waiting room)
  • Icy Tail – An effect where x cards are milled from the bottom of a deck and damage is dealt based on y cards revealed

Game Mechanics:

  • Accelerate – Place the top card of your deck into clock (this does not count as damage, thus it cannot be cancelled)
  • Resonate – Reveal a specific card from your hand to your opponent
  • Change – Send this card to another zone and replace it with a specified card
  • Trance – Perform a specific action where named cards will have to be arranged in an order to make a change-style effect (Unique to Hina Logic)
