BCS Toronto 2026

Sorry for the long delay. We had this video planned way in advance following BCS Toronto 2026, but due to production issues and other setbacks, it had taken several months to prepare and complete the video in its entirety.

During this year, I worked with some friends to interview individuals attending BCS Toronto 2026 and gather their experiences for the game including their thoughts and opinions on the event as a whole. You may view the video below.

We also did an optional online questionnaire with results shown below. All responses are anonymously recorded and separate from the video above.

Some responses are written and could not be collected as images. Minimal changes have been made for clarification or for grammar/spelling fixes. Their responses are detailed below:

What deck did you play?

  • Green (Unknown)
  • Noir/Blanc Deck (NIKKE)
  • Aqua (Unknown)
  • Fiona/Loid (SpyxFamily)
  • Ave Mujica (Bang Dream!)
  • Mai Restricted (Bunny Girl)
  • Unicorn, Standby Core (Azur Lane)
  • Door/Standby (NIKKE?)
  • Okayu 1 – Coco 3 (Hololive)
  • Chisato/Takina Level 3 (Lycoris Recoil)
  • Bar/Door Doloris (Bang Dream!)
  • Oblivionis Tomori RR (Bang Dream!)
  • Kanata/Mumei (Hololive)
  • Problem Solver 68 (Blue Archive)
  • Standby/Door Biscuit Modernia (NIKKE)
  • Azur Lane
  • Bar/Pants (Bang Dream?)

What changes could Bushiroad implement to better your experience today?

  • Better prizing for participating or topping perhaps. Introduce an entry fee. Wouldn’t be a problem for me.
  • Fix the phone number verification.
  • More side events or prizing.
  • Better Prizes, more side events. Better time rules.
  • Restriction list a little more frequently when needed. Also shops should be able to officially hold only one or two local tournaments weekly, especially if they also do have other games. Not everyone can play 2 games every week.
  • Fix the SMS verification to diminish stress for players from far away. This is an unnecessary stress before the big event.
  • Longer rounds or extra turns.
  • I feel like I did enjoy my experience this time a bit more, so I’d keep going with making the in-between round go the way they did. Though it would be nice to have a break to eat or go to the toilets.
  • Do more side events and hold free fight on both days. Also give out more promos (doesn’t mean I’m not happy about my Zulfikar freefresh).
  • A way to view top cut tables.
  • Replace Double Loss with either Draws or Tiebreaker conditions.
  • Better prize support. Draws not being a double game loss.
  • More info on time remaining in round.
  • More prizing.
  • None.

What ways can Bushiroad improve their products to tailor to your needs or that of your local store(s)? Conversely, what can Bushiroad do to help improve the new player experience?

  • (More) Demo decks.
  • (Product) Less expensive.
  • Shop have titles with multiple releases, e.g. volume 1, 2, etc.
  • More locals, more fun, maybe release events other than Meister Cup.
  • More incentive to play. Starter deck prices should be less expensive to get newer players to play.
  • Have a little more variety with titles, too much idol stuff.
  • Support older anime series to make them more consistent and fun to play. Help them get closer to the powercreep to diversify the competition.
  • Not sure yet.
  • Offer better prize support for Weiss.
  • Never do the mess up with Lycoris Recoil again. That is more like a Bushiroad problem then Weiss, but give a better accessibility to own your staples.
  • More demo session. Better incentive with prizing (supplies and stuff everyone can use). Print better entry products (maybe championship decks like Pokémon).
  • Be more responsive to shipment orders. Implement more newbie friendly events.
  • Provide card distributors/card shops the opportunity to preorder a limited number of playsets of upcoming sets to provide players more access to basic deck staples.
  • Make product more accessible. Make opening sealed product more worthwhile. Have more standardization in theme cups.
  • Having more products available. Informing store staff on how events should be run and knowledge on promos. Some stores don’t even know what events they are running via the Bushinavi app.
  • Maybe have fun playable demo decks for new players.
  • Better advertising and distribution.

How did you feel about the recent announcements with the EN banlist?

  • Disappointed. Pay more attention to the meta.
  • Good.
  • Doesn’t affect me.
  • I believe some older restrictions can be removed or changed. Fix Alice Ban for SAO.
  • Okay, but not enough and leave Seven Deadly Sins alone, it would not be a problem anymore, especially poor Escanor.
  • Incomplete, it should reflect the Japanese banlist. Even if we do not have the same set lineup.
  • Good for the format.
  • It’s incomplete. Like if we already know something is problematic in JP why not hit it before it’s released. They actually did it with Hololive.
  • Banlist should catch up. We can have a banlist midseason especially for decks that we know have done well in Japan.
  • shrugs
  • The lack of new and overdue restrictions make the existing game meta heavily unbalanced.
  • N/A
  • Impartial
  • Terrible. Needed to be changed.
  • Not enough.

How do you feel about the EN format versus the JP format? Do you feel the series/format are too similar for instance?

  • No.
  • Both are good.
  • Too different.
  • Only when new sets power creep.
  • Close, but a little more diverse in Japanese I think.
  • I feel like they should be similar for the sets we have in common. Since we can abuse of what is not banned here but banned in the Japanese format.
  • I don’t know.
  • I only play EN.
  • No, but I think it would be nice if we would fully get the sets, for example Grisaia, we are still missing 2 sets and the one we have is not that good.
  • JP format looks very powercrept. I’d like sequels to be ported more quickly (looking at Re:Zero for instance).
  • JP feels more expansive with more sets compared to EN.
  • I wish that some current JP only sets gets announced for EN to incentivize both existing and new players.
  • I don’t think there should be a difference. Would like to see the formats equalized.
  • I feel that the ban list should be the same.
  • JP more balanced.

How did you feel about the recent announcements with the JP banlist?

  • N/A.
  • Good.
  • Yes.
  • Whatever.
  • Okay.
  • I don’t know.
  • I only play EN.
  • N/A I don’t play JP Weiss.
  • Put things on the banlist please. Idolm@ster has a free pass.
  • Allowing more decks to be playable or try to contest the current power creep is good.
  • Surprised, but not as disappointed as I originally thought.
  • I’m not aware.
  • Needs more.

How do you feel about side events in this game? Are they ran well? Do you wish for more diversity? What suggestions do you have?

  • I think they are good. Having Weiss both days in a way is excellent!
  • None.
  • Nah. Yes more diversity.
  • More diversity.
  • They’re okay, but Meister cup are cutting the possible participation and implication, not everyone can buy everything.
  • They ran pretty well but can we remove the generic useless climax. The game relies on hitting CX combos. We do not need that flair if it does not expand the gameplay.
  • They’re ran well.
  • I feel like the prizing could be much better. Also I feel like a Meister cup should available to anyone even if they don’t own the series.
  • Single elimination tournament promos should not be restricted at once a day. Bring more custom events. Give out product in prizing.
  • Kinda wish they allow another side event during top cut and deck check.
  • Communication of side events were managed poorly. Specifically regarding the behaviours of select judges regarding clarification of how side events function. (Mainly the lack of professionalism for select judges.).
  • More diversity. More standardization of themes with concrete sets. More communication between JP and EN sides.
  • I wish there was more variety.
  • Ran well. No suggestions at the moment.
  • Liking the side events.

Are you aware of the JP side differences along with their unique prize support? Would you like more of these types of events implemented and added to the EN version of the game? Do you want to see localized JP events?

  • Yes.
  • Not so much. Promos should be more attainable than the way they are ran in Japan. Promos should also be available non foil and foil at all times to allow collectors to be enticed and casual players to have realistically attainable versions.
  • I would want JP prize support.
  • Yes and yes.
  • These events would be very encouraging to participate in.
  • I have not heard but that sounds preferable.
  • No, really wish we would have them.
  • Not very aware. Would like this kind of support.
  • Yeah.
  • Absolutely!
  • Was made aware at this BCS. I would like parity so that EN receives the same level of support as JP.

What do you currently think about ClockOneDrawTwo? How may they improve their website for your convenience? Feel free to list different types of content or ways to better your own user experience. You may also feel free to criticize the content.

  • No feedback. The next question is nonsense but I will pick one if it’s to help settle a debate between friends.
  • Yes.
  • Don’t know.
  • First time.
  • I don’t know, I’ll look it up later.
  • Love the articles.
  • Good stuff.
  • Keep doing the great work you are doing on the website!
  • As a newer player, the information on it has been helpful.
  • ClockOneDrawTwo is great.
Only 33.3% of you are correct.
