Overlord – Bone Daddy’s #1 Fan (R) [09/21/2024]

What awaits you in the hall supreme one? Gaze upon the lavish and gothic architecture and at the end of the velvet carpet lies a demonic entourage and their master, a devious embodiment of death, Ainz Ooal Gown. Despite their varied races, every member of Ainz’s subject is loyal to the bone; anything for their dear skeletal father.

So let’s meet Albedo. With her unwavering love and loyalty to Ainz, she is the undisputed head of Ainz’s appreciation fan club subordinates. In protection of her lord, and subordinates, Albedo’s combo gives her the ability to nullify any damage from opposing auto effects during climax phase or in battle with her on top of dealing a single point of damage.

Being a timely devotee to the Supreme One, Albedo is always ready to serve at a moment’s notice. Her level two combo above is a backrow support whose combo swaps places with her finisher by spawning it from waiting room while also allowing you to salvage her event. Inside the beckoning wailing of her event, Albedo’s love for her beloved Ainz can be an unparalleled force, pumping power while smothering the soul of her opponents. When you are level three, an additional cost can be paid to grant another character the ability to reduce the soul of an opposing enemy. Keep in mind that her event can only be used while her finisher is on stage.

Now let’s take a glimpse of the myth himself Ainz Ooal Gown, the team’s ace, the big baddie, the GOAT, my Master top lane smurf… But please call him Ainz. Ainz is a simple yet effective combo that allows you to perform a salvage effect when he brings death to his lowly opposition. His ability to salvage while spawning characters from his standby climax can help us gather important pieces while helping mitigate the on-play costs from Albedo’s backrow.

Along with the magical power of Albedo’s unrelenting love, we can also utilize Ainz’s immense magical prowess to further push our extended late-game agenda. On the left, we can cast the super-tier spell <Fallen Down> which sends itself to memory while collecting markers. While it’s in memory, at the start of your draw phase, you must place the top card of your deck underneath the event face-down as a marker. Once it has four or more markers, the event sacrifices itself and its markers to deal a chunk of damage for free.

As depicted in the center card, we can unleash an all-powerful spell that has been imbued in Ainz’s wishing ring. <Shooting Star>can perform a multitude of different effects based on the user’s wishes. If destruction is wished for, it will deal two damage. If longevity is wished for, two cards in clock are sent to waiting room. Lastly, if strength is wished for, immense cross-turn power can be granted to a character. To ensure we have access to these powerful spells, Ainz on the right can cheaply bond to both of the aforementioned spells.

One final card of note is the ever-capable Albedo who serves as a secondary form of hand generation for the deck while also providing some much needed mill. When she’s played from hand, she mills the top two cards of your deck and gains power based on the number of characters milled. Additionally, when she reverses her opponent, a cost can be paid to allow you to reveal the top two cards of your deck and having your opponent give you an event or character from among those cards to add to your hand. Albedo serves an important role in both hand generation (however random it may be) and also milling targets into your waiting room for standby purposes.

Even though Albedo has her love filled event backup, there are plenty of other options that can protect fellow Ainz-loving enthusiasts. Her level two backup is a Leafa counter which can help us safely mill the deck while her level one backup is a generic 2k backup that can help keep our early game board safe.

To further assist in filling our waiting room in the early game, consider some of Ainz’s level zero cards above. Ainz with his glowing crimson eye is a drop search profile and when reversed, allows you to clock the top card of the deck to add an event or a level one or lower character from the top two cards of the deck. The close-up of Ainz is a level zero clock bomb and a Riki profile that adds a character from the top three cards of the deck. Serious Albedo pumps soul if she mills a card with a soul trigger on play (mandatory mill) and bounces to hand while pumping cross turn power when a climax is played. Dignified Albedo is a salvage brainstormer that allows you to force draw and discard during your encore step if you have a climax in play. Shaltear looking shocked is a backrow support that can deal immense damage at the start of your climax phase. Lastly, Victim can sacrifice itself to inflict a soul debuff to one of your opponent’s characters.

While all of Ainz’s subjects serve and treat him like a god, Albedo is certainly a step above the rest in her undying devotion to her supreme one. In her heart, there is only room for her beloved supreme being, but despite her unyielding love, she will forever only be seen as his daughter.
