Lucky Star – Otaku (B) [08/18/2021]

Konata shares some of the sweetest smiles and moments from Lucky Star. The short young high schooler loves nothing more than swallowing sugary foods, hanging out with her friends and discussing the ins-and-outs of anime culture itself. The Otaku (オタク) deck focuses mainly on Konata cards which try to establish and maintain field presence.

The main finisher of the deck is the combo above. The left card is a check top x where x is equal to the number of Otaku on your field. This greatly helps in searching for its combo (right card). Once per turn, when she reverses her opponent, the Konata on the left may pay four stock to re-stand itself for another swing.

As for the other combo in the deck, the above is the suggested option. The Konata on the left is a pretty sizeable beat-stick weighing in at about 9500 power on her own assuming you have a full field of Otakus. She combos with the climax on the right which lets you search your deck for an Otaku character when she swings.

A good chunk of your front line will consist of large powered Konata cards. The card on the left is a standard beat-stick that is 6500 power assuming you have full field of Otaku. She also carries a nifty hand encore ability as well. The center card provides a global 500 power to Comic (漫画) characters which affects a good chunk of Konata cards in your deck. She also allows you pay a single stock on play to bond to LS/W05-076RRR. Lastly, the third card on the right is a similar card to LS/W05-076RRR as it is a 6500 powered beat-stick with full field of Otaku minus the hand encore effect and being costless.

In terms of back-row support, the set has plenty of options to help maintain and power up your front row Konatas. The card on the left is a global 500 power for Konata while also having a nice effect which lets you pay the cost and draw a card when he is sent to the waiting room (does not have to be by battle). The card in the center has a single stock bond to the card on the left. She also possesses the ability to sacrifice herself to encore one of your Konata if a Konata does get reversed (only if this card is in the back-row). Lastly, the card on the right is a global 1000 power support to all Otaku. This Konata is also a brainstorm that lets you draw upon revealing any climaxes.

To help maintain field supremacy, cards like the above are recommended. The Nanako to the left provides an additional 1000 power when she is used as a backup for any Otaku or Net-game (ネトゲ) character. The right card is a generic cost 1 backup with 2000 power. Use these cards decisively to ensure that your Konatas remain on the field and push for damage the following turn.

The following cards above are some interesting cards suggestions for the deck. The card to the left is a very powerful level 0 which can reach up to 5000 power on its own if you pay its cost. This can put it on par with level 1 cards not including the power sustained from back-row supports. Considering that your back-row doesn’t have any tap costs, this card is great for letting you beat over any threats.

The center card is a strange inclusion, but it holds a rather interesting effect. The card lets you filter your hand into the deck and redraw the same number of cards from the deck when she attacks while you are still level 0. It is definitely an interesting card to note, but it can be quite useful for helping you with reshuffle a not so helpful hand. It is important to note that she is not an Otaku character herself.

Lastly, the final card of the mix to the right is a drop searcher that helps you find either a Net-game, Twins (双子) or Otaku character. She does have a nifty combat ability that allows you to beat over boards by giving one of your cards an additional power boost of 1000 multiplied by its current soul damage values. It is important to note that she is not an Otaku character herself.

Before I conclude this article, I want to make a shout-out to two specific cards. LS/W05-122PR is a very interesting card that focuses on providing both LS/W05-076RRR and LS/W05-077RR with power. She is also a global 500 power support meaning that she’d be effectively a global 1000 power support to both LS/W05-076RRR and LS/W05-077RR. The deck also has a healer in the form of LS/W05-114.

Anyways, best of luck to those who want to build this Otaku deck. As always, I’ve included several additional suggestions above for the deck including both the cards referenced in the previous paragraph. Do your best and help bring a win to the great Konata and her supportive friends/family.
