Weiss Schwarz Updated Ban List [06/24/2026]

After skipping an entire season’s worth of adjustments, we have the updated ban list based on events this morning. These changes will become live by June 27th, 2026. If you wanted to read about my predictions beforehand, you can see them here.

June Ban List

Probably the harshest of all the bans, Gakuen Idolm@ster has been knocked down a peg. Firstly, with Temari limited to two, the consistency of the finisher will greatly drop. Unlike Aki from Chainsaw Man, Temari doesn’t come with her own salvage ability on play, meaning you need to hold onto your copies early on now before they end up in your stock.

The even more punishing blow was the split between the Saki Helmet profile and that of the Kotone spawner. With these two on a choice list, it is much harder now to get the memory conditions needed for Temari’s ability. Saki was the easiest form of memory, and, by all measure, quite a fair card by my books given that it was name locked to Re;Iris (Saki, Kotone, and Temari). Kotone’s spawner was integral as both a crutch and way to generate extra memory outside of the set limits of the other Re;Iris cards. As a crutch, Kotone possesses two key features: she bypasses colour requirement, allowing you to play her while only having red for Saki’s level one combo and that she can cheat out cards like that same combo early in the game to kickstart your advantage. If your opponent left any small beatstick on board, Kotone could readily spawn out Saki to let combo again while also displacing her to memory at end of turn for Temari’s memory conditions. Having both on a list limits what Re;Iris can really do and heavily lowers the amount of memory that can be generated.

The next major hit was that for Overlord. As somewhat expected, the Aura rest counter and Albedo are on the same limited list but met alongside the 2/2 Ainz that I had predicted earlier. Now, I had a high belief that the rest counter and Albedo were almost guaranteed, but the Ainz was a bit of an extra additional hit. Now, without a doubt, the Albedo and Aura rest counter loop shenanigans are dead. Ainz being on the list reduces the deck’s overall power since the new standby targets will have to be more generic and unable to take full advantage of the standby advantage that Ainz makes use of. Unlike Re;Iris from Gakuen Idolm@ster where the hits are taking away consistency, this ban restructures the overall gameplay for this deck in particular as players will need to find some other strategy in the early-to-mid-game.

While we are on the topic of Overlord, we also have two unbans which I doubt will really impact much of anything. Ainz, the Sorcerer Supreme can be released from prison, but with his 1/1 counterpart remaining on the ban list, this card effectively does nothing since you’ll need a way to protect him for two turns in order to get the old goats running. The lack of protection and discount on the goat events make Ainz much weaker than before. Shalltear, while still a powerhouse in card advantage, won’t really impact the current standby list far too much. The deck is already as compressed as is, giving few slots for you to run this card along with her vampire brides.

A proper end to the stickers’ shenanigans has been announced. Michelle’s seal is now locked exclusively to the Hello Happy World! archetype; otherwise, it is banned from play. This should stop the shenanigans with Layer’s promo that was outlined before. Kasumi is also partially removed from the ban list as a limit of one. This card is a single card powerhouse since it can cheaply grab both a copy of the 1/0 Christmas Kasumi combo and that of its 1/0 event target on a single effect. It should breathe some life back to that deck if you are interested in playing that combo again.

Alstroemeria’s event has been removed from the restriction list. To be frank, I think this one was long overdue. Without massive stock production and also with Sakuya still on the list, I doubt this event will be very impactful in the current game. At the end of the day, this card is essentially an alternative form of a money counter. With Sakuya, it could be cheeky and used to potentially keep you at 2/6 during your opponent’s turn for the massive six card heal right after, assuming the stars align.

Both Nino and the bracelet event are off the list. It’s easier to begin with the latter as the bracelet event shares the same sentiments I have for the same event in Shiny Colours. However, with the stock generation from Nino’s personal standby list, I do think there’s a pretty good chance that it may be seeing some amount of play. Nino’s Riko profile being removed will definitely greatly impact Nino’s personal eight standby list. This card can more than readily set-up standby scenarios with either of its two abilities and is another way for the deck to readily grab a climax to hand with its forced draw ability (with a bit of chance of course).

I don’t think Hololive is making a significant impact. Releasing Kanata from prison (where she rightfully belongs for her war crimes) mainly assists the 3/2 Luna build. Luna can now run free, no pun intended, with Kanata swapping places with her. The downside is powercreep has long evolved since then when Luna was a powerful deck within the format. I’m sure that the deck will still see play from time to time, but only time will tell.

The top two baddies of the format have been hit, and we’ll be sure to start seeing the results of this as early as this weekend.
