No, I will not watch Rental Girlfriend. I quite literally bought Sumi because her eyebrows reminded me of a dog’s. This isn’t meant to be offensive to her by any measure. There’s this sort of styling of eyebrows in anime that I found adorable. They remind me of the little spots that some dogs have. It’s apparently a stylistic choice, but I’m not too sure about the accuracy of that. Either way, the point of which is Sumi is cute.

You can clearly see her eyebrows here right? Sumi’s finisher looks like it has a lot of text, but it’s a rather simple design. When Sumi attacks with her climax in play, she gains cross-turn power and hexproof while also performing a Moca check on your opponent’s deck. Otherwise, when she’s sent to waiting room from stage, you can return her to hand instead and stock a character from waiting room. Simple and elegant, that’s Sumi for you.
The center card is the early play spawner which sacrifices itself to put level three Sumi into play when you play your climax at level two. It doubles as the deck’s brainstorm.

In the early game, using her charm to command her army of penguins, the lovable Sumi performs a Maguro check followed by giving herself trigger check (check two, leave one on top, discard the other). Her 1/0 that is pumping up her own confidence is a global assist that can sacrifice itself to spawn the 1/0 combo from waiting room.
If the plan isn’t clear enough as is, grab your brainstorms and level three finisher, prepare for level two, swarm the board and swing out to victory!

Other pieces for the deck consist of a number of new and old tools. Bedazzled Sumi pumps power cross-turn to one of your other characters and grants them cross-turn hand encore as well (perfect for the 3/2 early play). 1/0 Sumi looking determined in the center is a perfect piece to transform our random selection from the early combo into either one of the two pieces needed for the end game when you pay her costs when she reverses her opponent. 1/0 Sumi clenching her fists is a redraw profile that also is an on-play drop searcher to grab your pieces immediately.

Other support pieces throughout the game include the cards above. Sumi playing with a beach ball is the Riki profile for the deck, letting you clock a character from waiting room to reveal the top card of your deck and add it to hand if it’s a character or a specific event (we don’t run any events). Sumi holding her notebook is a card I cannot afford is a Clean Cut profile that can give power to any character on swing including herself. Lastly, Sumi looking innocent at the café is a level swap profile that can also sacrifice itself to add a character from the top four cards of your deck.

In order to mess with our opponent and show Sumi’s cute superiority, the 1/0 on the left offering a snack is a stock shuffler while the 3/2 profile on the right is a Fumio profile to refresh their deck.

Our ace in the hole is the humble Sumi bowing above on the left. This off-finisher has a fairly unique and special ability where, if she is in your waiting room during the start of your first turn, you may bottom deck her, draw two cards, and discard two cards. Her finishing ability checks your opponent’s top five cards of their deck for climaxes, then shuffles their deck, and places the top cards into their clock equal to number of climaxes revealed.
Our other Sumi is the deck’s main source of healing and a way to keep our early play on stage by giving one of them additional cross-turn power and hexproof when a climax is played.

For defence, primarily for our early played Sumi, both backups here are great options. Sumi offering ice cream can mill our opponent’s deck based on our board while Sumi’s innocent smile is a free costless 2000 powered backup.
There’s not a lot of suggestions to be had since Sumi is perfect. Of the few remaining Sumi cards to talk about, Sumi waving bolsters one of your other cards when she attacks and can run away to the back during your opponent’s attack phase for a cost. Sumi looking shocked is a level zero reverser than can flicker an opposing character. Lastly, 1/0 Sumi looking nervous is a level one reverser that can double trigger on swing for a cost.
There’s not much to say about Sumi’s deck. Grab the right cards, transform, and go full speed ahead!
