The history of the Doro is quite complicated. Stemming from the pits of the Internet, the Doro is a magical species that supposedly has mystical origins from hell itself, some SCP-500 founding universe, or the dark streets of Yonge and Bloor at 4:30 a.m. Nobody really knows, but what is known is the Doro seeks to devour your soul. It’s method of attack is to approach you casually, seeming innocent at first, and then when it comes close enough, it will spit out its four meter long tongue, wrap it all around you body, steal your spiritual energy, dragging it back into its endless void mouth and then disappearing without a trace, leaving you an empty husk of your former self.

The origin of Doro comes from the character Dorothy shown here. Dorothy, otherwise known as the progenitor of the Doro, issues her progeny to roam the Earth and bring ruin to civilization. This is not a conspiracy; the NIKKE world is a reflection of that reality. For Dorothy’s climax combo, she gives a shot trigger to very card with a soul trigger. Along with generating more shot triggers, Doro also performs a scry effect when she attacks, helping her dig for soul triggers. Keep in mind for Doro to provide these effects, you must pay her costs at the start of your climax phase and she must be in your front row.

To support the Doro army, Scarlet takes on a role as the early play combo. Scarlet is important mainly for both her climax and the soul icon that she carries as a level two character. Upon sending her climax from the climax zone to waiting room, Scarlet’s combo allows you to refill your hand cheaply at the start of your encore phase. She can come out early should you have a copy of her “Riki” profile in clock. Furthermore, if you have the extra resources, she can potentially stick around for a while since she does possess latent hand encore and additional power.

As for the Scarlet mentioned before, she appears here on the left clad in her full armour. Scarlet is a Riki profile that lets you clock a blue character from your waiting room to reveal up to the top two cards of your deck and give you a level one or lower character from among them. She is also a climax swapper as well from the deck. Privaty is here as another key member of the Doro army. As captain maid general, Privaty acts as an extender for Dorothy’s combo by gaining a shot trigger when a climax is played and doubling up any effect for Dorothy as she also carries a soul icon trigger. Additionally, as both a value-based ability and contingency plan, Privaty also refreshes your deck for free on play if you meet her small deck condition. Lastly, Diesel, field commander supreme, ensures that you have the resources needed to keep the Doro war machine going as she can fly to stock upon being reversed if you reveal a level one or higher card from the top of your deck.

One striking problem that you may be seeing is that of the lack of persistent mill in the form of a brainstorm. True enough, the blue deck, unfortunately, does not have its own brainstorm. However, there are many other ways to mill your deck, and the Scarlet combo herself does keep your hand full and healthy. To make sure that we have a deck full of climaxes and that we are constantly cycling into new material, these three above are prime examples of supports to assist the deck in this endeavour.

Marian mills two cards on play, and if a climax is revealed, you may salvage a character for free. She also does come with a slight demerit of having to sacrifice one of your other level zero characters on stage at the start of your next draw phase. However, this ability can be used to our benefit as we’ll discuss in a short second. Soda, our second in command, is another key way to get through our deck. By discarding a climax with an arc icon when she’s played on stage, you can cycle through the top six cards of your deck and add a character. Lastly, Folkvin is a Chiyuri profile when sent to waiting room. This works great in conjunction with that of Marian, a sack target that you can use at the start of your draw phase to check further into your deck.

To facilitate the Doro army gameplan and as targets for Diesel, the girls above play very well into the deck. When Brid attacks while climax containing the arc trigger is in play, she allows you to salvage a character and ditch a card, perfect for our eight arc trigger deck. Eid spawns a copy of any level zero character from our deck for a discard cost, helping with increasing the chances for our Diesel and Folkvin to hit targets. Miranda allows you to trigger twice for a cost, helping to pay out any arc triggers while also pseudo milling our deck.

Before we end the post, the lovely Dorothy, grandmaster-at-arms, has one final counter at play, sending anyone who opposes the Doro regime to memory.

Now the Doro army has been fully assembled, the march can begin. Kiri is another option to mill the deck while also being a bottom deck level zero reverser. Sorin is a drop search profile that can pay a heavy cost to move a character on your opponent’s stage. Rapunzel is a cheap way to spawn our finishers while also healing and acting as target for Diesel and having a soul icon for Dorothy. Snow White is a level assist that grants arc trigger assist.

The march awaits. All through the night, the clattering of her high heels in the dark streets warn the populace of their impending doom as the Doros visit each and every city, ready to cause utter chaos and destruction.
