Steins;Gate – My Beloved Christina (R/Y) [03/28/2024]

As a preface, I would like to give tribute to a friend of mine who I designed this deck for. Choosing to purchase this deck instead of fixing his toilet and abandoning any chances of dining out this month, he is a definitive chad. He loves Steins;Gate and wishes everyday to become closer to his true waifu, the microwave banana.

In terms of art, I had to pick this version simply because Kurisu is doing her most powerful pose. Anyways, Kurisu is the finisher of the deck with a rather interesting modular finishing ability. Depending on the number of level three or higher characters you have on stage, Christina’s finisher deals her combo damage accordingly. Christina also counts the back row on your field as well, so do keep that in mind. You can vary the damage she deals based on selectively organizing your field.

Christina appears once again as our early advantage combo. Christina is a particularly interesting combo. Compared to the more traditional hand-gaining or stock generating combo, Christina is a cheap way to generate board, essentially saving you hand. For a cheap cost of a stock when her climax is played on stage, Christina can spawn two costless characters from your waiting room. This has many implications as you can spawn these characters anywhere on your stage as you please, either acting as a front row fighters or back row supports. The world is yours to choose as you like. Also, I won’t mention who, but someone wishes they were Okabe in the climax art.

The question you may be wondering is what can we spawn with our lovely Christina. These are some suggestions we highly recommend. Moeka is a Taigei profile, that can be quite enormous if you can maintain a sizeable field. Lastly, Christina is a generic cost zero stock reverser, helping rid your opponent’s field of costless threats and making your opponent think twice when swinging from the opposing side.

It may seem odd to play Ruka in the deck, but they serve quite an important purpose here. Ruka has an on-play scry ability, but more importantly, when a climax is played into your climax zone, you may bounce them back to your hand to give cross turn power to one of your characters. This is great for maintaining hand while also opening up slots for Christina’s combo.

The trio of cards shown above are quintessential as acting as cheap ways to generate level threes on your board with little to no resource commitment. The key card to keep in mind is that of our power assist Christina to the left. She grants an additional power and a level to one of your characters when she swings. The keyword here is the level addition as this can be used to force one of your other characters on field into a temporary level three character for the turn, helping with Christina’s check condition.

Christina in the center serves two roles. Firstly, she’s a large beatstick that can be called in if need be as a swinger from Christina’s advantage combo. She does come with a demerit of not being able to frontal attack cards that are higher level than her. But to also help her with this condition, she does come with a level pump and power boost the moment she’s played on hand. As you might imagine, you can then chain this with the Christina to the left to create a level three on board without a single stock cost. Christina on the right acts as another pseudo level three as she gains a level and power when she frontal attacks a level three for the turn.

Combined, these cards can make cheap ways to formulate level threes on the board without paying any heavy costs, cheaply helping meet Christina’s checks.

“Real” level threes outside of your finisher combo are suggested here. The first Christina on the left is a cantrip card that also refunds you a single stock. Christina on the right is a healer that can also help one of your characters push for extra soul for the turn.

In terms of other backups, if you wish to defend your field, the furious Feyris is here as an oversized backup to grant large amounts of power. Mayushi herself is an anti-change, perfect for preventing any harm to your precious Christinas.

Some great suggestions to consider are shown above. 2/1 Christina reading a love story is a level assist for level three or higher characters while also having an active power pump ability. Part of what makes this level assist especially powerful is your ability to make pseudo level threes which will gain the power offered by her. Additionally, using your level zero power pump, you can alternatively turn her into a level three for your finisher. 0/0 Christina lying down in time itself is a global assist with a unique ability to rest two characters to give a character an additional level. This can be used as another way to force levels onto your characters for 3/2 Christina’s ability. Christina dozing off is a salvage brainstorm with a special ability to force mill your opponent’s deck at the start of their attack phase, and if that card milled was level two or higher, you must draw and a discard a card. This can be a great way of potentially getting a free hand fix while also messing with your opponent’s deck. Mayuri is a salvage Riki profile that allows you to selectively choose which card you’d like to clock for her ability. Suzuha is a climax swapper when sent to waiting room, but you can spawn her out with your level one combo to have it die the following turn to prepare your climax for the next turn. 3/2 Mayuri is an assist with a stock heal ability while also having the same ability as the 0/0 lying down Christina.

Is your love for Christina greater than my friend’s? I know one thing for sure. Your wallet is definitely larger than his after his purchases this month.
