Special Hololive Ambassador Set Upgrade [04/09/2024]

The new Hololive ambassador set brought along a bag of goodies with a fully assembled deck ready to play. This is a perfect introductory product to teach and invite new players to the game. However, what if we were to get some extras to try and improve the deck even further. This special unique deck profile will be looking to expand upon ideas already latent in the special ambassador set. This set features the four Hololive ambassadors: Hoshinova Moona, Takanashi Kiara, Sakura Miko, and Hoshimachi Suisei.

Without further ado, let’s begin.

Moona is the finisher of the ambassador set. Representing Hololive Indonesia, Moona steps up to the plate with a modular finisher that can fluctuate its damage. When she attacks with her climax in play, you may choose to perform an RNG check from the top of your deck to deal four damage if you reveal either a Hololive (ホロライブ) character or the Cherry Blossom event. Alternatively, you may pay a cost at the end of Moona’s attack, if her opponent is reversed, at the end of her swing to deal two damage.

The aforementioned event for Moona is shown here. This event, which requires a Hololive character to be in play to be used, lets you search your deck for a character and sends itself to memory. You may recover the event at the start of your main phase from memory by discarding a climax.

Kiara, representing Hololive English, is the early combo of choice, letting you dig through your deck, filter your hand, and add extra hand. Keep in mind that she can add the Cherry Blossom event as well.

For some new additions, Moona on the left is an assist that also grants your other characters a climax filtering ability when they trigger a climax. Suisei in the center is a climax swap when sent to waiting room. Alternatively, you may use the new promotional card climax swapper featuring the ambassadors instead. Suisei on the right is a clock swapper on play that also allows you to choose her trigger when she swings.

Miko brings some extra power to the deck. Firstly, the Miko on the left is a climax filter to salvage a character. Miko in the center is a drop searcher. Lastly, Miko on the right is a clock encore beater that can stay on field and help with retaining hand.

These cards above are great to keep with the deck. Since Kiara is a level one yellow combo, we’ll need some amount of yellow cards to ensure we can use her abilities. Moona and Kiara on the left is a Riki profile that lets you selectively clock a card for its ability. This is great as you can potentially clock into the colours you need while maintaining advantage. Kiara in the center is a power booster on play and when she attacks, helping you secure reversals on your opponent’s characters. Lastly, Kiara on the right is a stock flush profile on play, clearing out your opponent’s stock.

Suisei is a fine salvage brainstorm for the deck. She comes with the upside of giving a character the ability to rearrange their triggers when you play a climax. Moona is also another option that is a search brainstorm with a Riko ability that you may perform when you play a climax. Either option is fine. Pick your preference.

Retaining Suisei & Miko’s chaser is fine. The two can hold the board together, but do keep in mind that they lose power if there’s too many characters on your field. 1/0 Moona can be played without colour requirements. She’s a cross-turn power booster that can also perform a Helmet ability to salvage your other cards. Lastly, Suisei is a drop salvage that can also bounce to stock when your opponent plays a climax.

In terms of backups, there is already a nice anti-change in the set through Suisei. Kiara offers a new counter that can replace itself when you use her accelerate ability.

Some final suggestions are shown in the slideshow above. 0/0 Miko is a beater that comes in rested if your opponent has three or more climaxes in their waiting room on play, but she also comes with a nice discard and redraw ability. 1/0 Miko is a beater that also has the ability to pay an expensive cost both on play and when sent to waiting room to salvage a character to hand. Suisei giving off a victory pose is an early play that can be played regardless of colour conditions if you have full field. She gains power during your turn and heals to stock. Suisei in her casual pose is a secondary finisher that allows you to draw on play while gaining power for the turn. You may pay her costs when she reverses her opponent to deal a single point of damage. Lastly, Miko is an early play that can dig through your deck for a card that you need.
