Arifureta – Valentine’s Runner Up 2024: Yue (Y) [02/28/2024]

Sucky-sucky vampire. Yue is coming for you quite literally. She can sense that pulse in your heart, the spiking adrenaline and speeding life fluid, as she seeks to give your neck a gentle little bite.

Yue’s finisher uses the power of the force to punish her enemies. After paying her costs, Yue gains an ability throughout your opponent’s turn as follows: when damage dealt to Yue is cancelled, you may deal two damage back to your opponent. To help complement this, as long as you fulfill her first condition, Yue gains a large amount of power and hexproof continuously.

Yue has two different early play options to try and gain extra advantage. Yue and Hajime is the first combo of choice that has an on-reverse ability with their climax to let you reveal the top two cards of your deck and add them to hand if they are a character or the event shown in the center. The event in the center is an Akatsuki event that can be used during your opponent’s turn as well.

The other combo of choice is the Yue here that carries the innate ability to bounce back to hand when her damage dealt is cancelled. Her combo ability works as long as the center drop search is in memory. When her climax is in play and her conditions are fulfilled, once per turn when her damage is cancelled, you may stock up to two characters from your waiting room and then check the top four cards of your deck and add a character to hand. Yue’s center card is a drop search on play that also goes to memory upon reverse if you have two or less memory.

One of Yue’s most powerful cards is shown above. In her stunning display of her summer body, Yue gains an additional soul for each other copy of herself on the stage. Meaning, with just three copies of herself in the front row, Yue is a three soul swinger. If you are running the two soul early combo, Yue will be a great way to try to spike damage into your opponent’s clock undoubtedly.

1/0 Yue is a great card that has two functions. Firstly, you may discard a card on play to spawn a level zero character from your waiting room to stage. This is great in conjunction with that of Yue and Shea in the center, a drop search that is an ACT ability that bottom decks itself as part of its cost. Kaori and Yue is a hand filter that also doubles as a climax filter as well.

As for backups, if you want to protect best girl, Yue has her oversized onsen counter above. It grants additional power to your character if your opponent plays a climax.

As for extras, the trio of maid girls is a mill runner that gains power during your opponent’s turn. 3/2 Yue is a stock healer that sacks a character for cost while also having an additional finishing ability. Summer Yue is a climax swapper that sacrifices other characters for cost. 2/1 smug Yue is a level three support that also refunds your stock if you have full field on play. Lastly, Yue underneath a towel is an oversized beatstick with a large bottom decking demerit (applies to all your characters) but otherwise, a great going first card.

If you want to capture Yue’s heart, you’ll need to be a chad. You’ll need an eyepatch, a beautiful personality, and amazing looks that can make any heart melt. It would also help if your first name was “Hajime”.
