Bang Dream! – Bonsai and Toilets (B) [09/07/2023]

What do bonsai trees and toilets share in particular? The answer couldn’t be as easy as night and day. While the bonsai tree needs delicate care and constant grooming, so does the natural excrement disposer. As the delicate leaves of the bonsai tree wither from too much pressure, so does the ceramic tool when it caves from a late night party of nachos with extra cheese. No one understands this more than the talented florist and keyboard player, Arisa Tachibana.

Whether it’s resting by the poolside or sitting on the can, both depictions of Arisa (the cards have the same functionality and four-of condition), Arisa is ready to charge up your stock and provide additional hand value.

Toilet, as is affectionately named by the community, is a powerful event that essentially replaces itself in your hand while also giving you additional stock. When Toilet is played, you choose a Music (音楽) character in your waiting room and place it to stock and then give one of your Music characters the ability to reveal the top card of your deck on swing and add it to hand if it is a character, essentially replacing itself.

What is the goal of our deck? Misery of course. Arisa is an early play that grants additional power to your front row. On top of this, when she attacks with a full field with her climax on the right, she gains an additional cross-turn 1000 power and the ability to minus one soul to two of your opponent’s characters.

For our early advantage, the bonsai beauty shows up again with a pair of small clippers to nip away your opponent’s chances of living. Upon reversing with her combo, Arisa lets you search your deck for a copy of her toilet event and then sends the top card of your deck to stock. She’s quite an efficient combo, but make sure to have your events in your deck for her ability.

As for other ways to grab our signature event, Arisa on the left is a Kazuma profile that can grab anything off the top three cards of your deck by paying her costs. Arisa on the right salvages the event on play from the waiting room by discarding a Bonsai (盆栽) character from hand while also giving a light power pump to one of your other characters as well.

Some other event synergies lie with Arisa and Tae above. Arisa is a level three killer that also lets you discard an event to refresh your deck for free. She can be a way to loop your level one combo to ensure that you can search out your toilet event. Tae is a burst power beater that lets you discard an event to give her an on-reverse draw.

Another two card engine that the card runs is through that of the draw Kasumi brainstormer in the center and the Arisa stock charger on the left. Arisa charges stock from the top of your deck (blind) upon reversing any opponent as long as you have the Kasumi on stage. Tae is a nice 8000 powered beater as long as Kasumi is on field if you wish to run a large beatstick with hand encore.

To help close out the game, Swimsuit Arisa on the right is our go to finisher. She’s a large beater with an on-play heal. More importantly, when damage taken by her during her battle is not cancelled, you may deal the same damage back to your opponent for her costs. 2/1 Arisa on the left resonates with Swimsuit Arisa to give her the option to side without penalty. Furthermore, when she is fronted, you may pay her costs and change her into Swimsuit Arisa from hand.

The last card to mention for our star-chaser fangirl is this global assist above. Arisa lets you marker a toilet event on play to grant a global level assist ability all your other cards. Additionally, for a cheap cost of a single stock on play, you may look at the top two cards of your deck, add one to hand and discard the other.

Backups are great especially in the context of protecting your late-game Arisa(s). The Arisa on the left here is a freefresh backup. Tae is a memory kick counter to get rid of annoying threats permanently.

To support our bonsai princess, some other suggestions have been included above. Puchi Arisa is 4000 powered beatstick that can normally come in standing for free (assuming your opponent isn’t too unlucky). Star Beat Tae is a way to get you extra hand upon reverse, paying her costs and sending her to clock to reveal the top two cards and letting you add a card from among them. Arisa in her Poppin’ Party outfit is an alternative way to search your deck without costing hand. Arisa passionately stating her opinions is a fleeing runner that can be 3000 power base if you have five or more hand while preventing the opposing character and itself from siding. Additionally, she also carries the Bonsai (盆栽) trait on field. Lastly, Tae and Kasumi are an early play duo that has a secondary finishing ability (make sure to fulfil her trait requirements) and a heal to stock ability on play.

Toilet your way to victory. I can’t really think of any fun puns so I guess regurgitate, dispel, and flush. Honestly, if you’re thinking of getting a new toilet, consider buying a bidet. From personal experience, it’s much more hygienic, and you end up saving more toilet paper in the long run. It may be odd with your first use, but you’ll get used to it. Auto-detection flushing is also great, reducing the amount of bacteria transferred through touch. But remember to be delicate just like when you carefully handle a bonsai tree.
