Slime – Demon Lords’ Dine Out (R) [08/22/2023]

At the request and approval of three Demon Lords, all Demon Lords gather together to take part in a great gathering called Walpurgis. Having received the status of a Demon Lord, Rimiru has gained the privilege to take part in this exclusive banquet. With the ability to attend Walpurgis, Rimiru prepares to partake in the banquet with his Demon Lord compatriots.

As the newest member of the Demon Lords’ club, Rimiru takes his newly gained powers for a test drive. His combo gives him burst power and the ability to deal two damage to his opponents for a fairly cheap cost. The first part of the cost is to ditch a character, and the second is to have three or more Demon Lord (魔王) characters on stage. This deck will be comprised of only Demon Lords to ensure that any characters on stage will count towards the second condition.

Supporting her newly sworn-in best friend, Milm demonstrates the true destructive power a Demon Lord possesses. Her combo adds the top card of your deck if it’s a character or the event in the middle. After that, she fires a devastating blast that can send an opponent’s level zero or lower backstage character to the waiting room which can be extremely useful as Milm can annihilate brainstormers and early backrow supports. The event Milm targets allow you to salvage two characters, but you must discard a card and have three or more Demon Lords on stage to play it.

The two cards above possess effects that can pair nicely with the combos as mentioned earlier. Guy pumps power to any Demon Lord in front of him. Guy grants an additional ability specifically to level three Rimiru, pumping additional power to his finisher and preventing the use of backups during his battle. Supporting his fellow Demon Lord, Carrion has a bond effect that searches for Milm’s combo. Along with pumping power to Milim, he gives her a surveil effect, giving you some control over what Milim’s combo adds to hand.

With both combos utilizing the climaxes with the door triggers, we can make good use of these above Demon Lords that work off them. Frey’s salvage brainstorm checks five cards but can only hit climaxes with door triggers. Although Frey’s brainstorm requires two characters to be rested, she pumps continuous global power to all Demon Lords. Leon is a Koume profile when he’s sent to the waiting room, but he can only add climaxes that have a door trigger.

Some other Demon Lords that benefit from the Demon Lord trait are shown above. When sent to waiting room, you may pay Luminus’ cost, and if you do, she allows you to look up to six cards and add up to two Demon Lords among them. Milim can be early played if you have four or more Demon Lords on stage, and when played, she allows you to top check and add a card, the amount checked based upon the number of Demon Lords in play. While there are two or more Demon Lords in play, Milim also gains continuous power and an encore cost of discarding a Demon Lord.

In terms of backups, Ramiris serves as an interesting but risky backup. When used, her cost can be paid and she forces a six soul buff onto the opposing attacking character (whether they want it or not). This buff can potentially cause your opponent to overswing and increase your odds of cancelling.

Milim’s level three serves as a nice secondary finisher. She can deal damage when she’s played by revealing a Demon Lord Continent (魔大陸) character from the top of your deck (the main trait in Slime), and she can pump herself power and clock-kick reversed opponents for a high stock cost. Since Rimiru’s finisher effect costs hand, Milim’s stock swap is great to use in conjunction to make use of extra stock, helping to increase your odds of closing out the game. Clayman serves as a means to spawn temporary level zeros which can serve as rest targets for the brainstormer or for utilizing Luminus’ effect.

After an entertaining night out with their fellow Demon Lords, the group part ways to return to their respective domains. While he’s still relatively new and inexperienced, Demon Lord Rimiru still manages to catch the attention of his fellow old gods, some with respect, others with disdain, and even more with wary eyes.
