Charlotte – God Lives Among Men (G/B) [06/23/2023]

Ye of little faith, humble yourselves, for a deity is about to be displayed in front of your unworthy eyes. Once human himself, Yuu Otsuka traversed the world and experienced the pain and lives of us filthy mortals. However, knowing that he was the chosen one, he used his heavenly powers to absorb the sins of humankind and ascend to godhood. As a devout follower, by his grace, I will now share his teachings with you.

Displayed in his full glory, our lord and saviour appears here as an early play if your opponent dares challenge you with a level three on board. As Yuu contemplates on his memories of his former life, back when he was in a feeble flesh-packed body susceptible to mortal struggles such as fear and death, he finds himself at peace in a grass field, knowing a bright future lay ahead of him. With the music of divinity ringing in his ears, he smites a front row opponent when his climax is played, lowering their power by 5000. Upon reversing his weakened enemy, the poor unfortunate soul daring to challenge judgment itself, he sends its body to the memory zone as Yuu absorbs its spirits, cleansing it of its former weakness and laying the soul to rest.

Yuu’s power is determined by the enemies that he drains. By reducing them to memory, he gains power equal to the total level of characters in your opponent’s memory zone. As a fair and just god, Yuu only seeks to beat the strongest of opponents, silly indignant individuals daring to challenge his will (the higher the character’s level he sends to memory, the better).

It is written in the scriptures of his holy maiden, the blessed silver haired Nao Tomori. She was the first to acknowledge his divinity, exposing the truth of his real hidden form. As the first divine saint, the lover of our god, Nao hunts for truth in his most precious name.

In the early game, she scours the top three cards of your deck when she swings with her climax, looking for pieces to assist her most compassionate lord while receiving his will in the form of power for the turn.

Our merciful lord may be willing to show compassion and grace; however, he is not one to show partiality. Our lord announces to all that a duel should be fought fairly and with honour. He prevents both us and our opponent from taking damage from “auto” abilities (most extra damage abilities in the game). We must fight fairly under his watchful eyes as he observes us from above.

His card shown here sends itself to memory when it is reversed and you pay its costs, allowing you to search up another character to hand from deck, a perfect homage to the journey and existence that is Yuu Otsuka representing his ascension from mortality to godhood.

The next piece of the puzzle lies with our holy maiden once more questioning my will to live. Nao is an oversized backrow support granting all characters in front of her 1500 power. She does come with a caveat as you must sacrifice another character when she’s played on stage. This isn’t as bad of a trade as we can consider this as an offering to our lord by serving another body to him as a form of ritual praise. Our sacrifice will be more than happy to devote their existence in service of our benevolent leader.

Since Yuu essentially turns the game into a vanilla swing fest, we must work to maximize our survival potential while ruining our opponent’s. The divine maiden consults with a particular coin loving alien from another realm to give us a fleeing runner with a freefresh ability as an alarm effect. Ambrosia (Kinsan Ramen) is the food of the gods. Legend has it that once upon a time, a humble servant from the pantheon above came across a misshapen young man, endowing him with a recipe made from humble origins. Henceforth, this man turned into a prophet, spreading his ideas throughout the lands of the Japanese, feeding both samurai and peasants alike. His words quite literally turned to gold, as shown by the “gold” (金) in the product’s name. Upon Kinsan Ramen’s, your opponent flushes their stock while you seep their tears through pleasant broth and well cut fresh noodles.

As a deck with overwhelming power flowing from its fingertips, our divine maiden is a perfect brainstorm that grants additional power in the center slot, further expanding on Yuu’s authority on stage. Given the grand power of our pieces, we can use her unique brainstorm ability to tutor up characters for us to use while also compressing our deck. Nao is rather unique since, upon hitting any climaxes with her brainstorm effect, you assign your characters the ability to search two characters from the deck and discard a card after upon reversing their opponents.

Yuu’s younger sister, the generous bishop of love or pizza sauce, Ayumi is a Riki on play that also messes with your opponent’s stock. Lastly, once again, our divine maiden speaks with otherworldly beings, a high school girl with a pistol (Yuri), to give us a discard and draw profile both on-play and when it attacks.

Under most circumstances, we are never threatened by our opponent’s cards on field. In fact, we welcome the challenge, particularly those of greater strengths and levels, but if there were ever a threat we needed to purge immediately, the idol pope herself above acts as back-up, reducing our opponent’s cheated threats back into fair lower life forms.

Though the land is filled with heathens and non-believers, we must show the truth that was long forgotten. Above us in his heavenly realm sits our divine king on his throne with his holy maiden by his side. Vanquish all that is unholy, and bring about an age of glory and transcendence.

Yuu Otsuka was once like us, a normal human who suffered the pains of mortality. He was mocked and jested by others and seen as a failure in society. Yet, he rose above us, circling the globe, nabbing all that is evil and taking them upon himself. And at the end of his journey, he ascended to the stars, purging himself of all of humanity’s sins and reaching his rightful place as the eternal king. Seek his teachings and show his enemies the power of martial prowess, granting them peace through grace and kindness. For it is only by the act of defeat that the infidels will know the truth. It is by seeing Yuu in all his splendor that the unworthy become able to see their own filth.

For our lord is all encompassing, generous, and merciful. He shall take their hands and raise them up to his kingdom prepared above.
