The “Riko” Profile

When people imagine this card, they can feel the flames in the jungle, hear the screeches from the nearby forest, and remember the crowds of people running chaotically in all directions. Nobody wants to mention this profile’s namesake card, a menace during her shine in the game’s spotlight. Without further ado, this article will now dive into “Riko”.

Riko, the feature card which became the name of this profile, is shown above in her pleasant Mirai Ticket outfit. She was a part of a trio pairing with that of Chika and You. During the shine of the Sunshine meta, Riko was absurd for being able to provide the player information while filtering hand for free. Her ability helped decide your swings, helping you ensure that her accomplice, You, would be able to very likely deal large amounts of damage with her auto ability.

Compared to most “Riko” cards, the bonus of Riko compared to most profiles is her reusable ability. Whereas most modern Rikos are an on-play effect only, Riko’s was an ACT effect that was repeatable, meaning that if you were to standby her out early, you could be spamming her effect as early as level one.

The Riko effect is to simply discard a card, reveal the top of your card, and salvage a character based on the level of the card revealed. By this logic, the best option to reveal will always be a level three as this will open up all options in your waiting room as potential targets for the effect.

Modern Riko profiles have most notably become more accessible at lower levels. The cards generally are low power with their main role to be a one time filter for your hand. As a general tip, since Riko requires you to discard to activate the ability, make sure to discard a card that you either do not need (extra climaxes) or a card that can be easily recycled to hand in a worst case scenario. If you have ways to scry or manipulate the top card of your deck, these effects should trigger first before you play your Riko so you have a better opportunity to see what options you can grab with the Riko. Keep in mind that Riko is a salvage based ability, so the larger your waiting room is, the better chance you’ll have more options to work with.
