Originally a legendary dragon guarding his treasure within the other world, Fafnir transformed into a full-time NEET defending digital valuables during his time on Earth. Despite spending his time gaming away, he can occasionally be found interacting with Tohru or his roommate Takiya. Despite his relaxed composure as he spends his days pounding away on the keyboard, he is quick to respond is not to be taken lightly.

By consuming his guarded treasure, when Fafnir above gets a reverse, you may pay his cost to re-stand himself, allowing him to strike a secondary blow. Additionally, if Fafnir catches sight of any treasure icons triggered by any of your characters, Fafnir can deal an extra one damage (once per turn) if you pay his costs.
Tohru, the ever the helpful powerhouse, takes the stage as our early advantage combo. Her combo allows you to look up to three cards from the top of your deck and add one of the revealed cards to hand. Additionally, she gains a continuous 2000 power boost if you have two or more other characters on the field.
The enticement of treasure seems to be something that can influence and provide beneficial effects to all, and the cards above are a testament to its benefits. Fafnir once again jumps at the chance of treasure, and in this case, whenever a bar effect is triggered, he pumps 1000 power cross-turn to one of your characters.
While Tohru may not be as enticed at the thought of treasure as much as Fafnir, her card on the right does provide an incentive for triggering climaxes. Whenever a climax is triggered, she pumps one soul to a character of your choice for the turn while being an Adachi that swaps her opponents with the top card of your opponent’s clock.
Takiya is one of the few humans that can get through Fafnir’s distant personality, and he comes ready to lend a hand by assisting in getting bar triggers. Takiya on the left comes with a useful effect that helps Fafnir’s finisher gain his burn effect. While Fafnir’s finisher is in play, when the Takiya attacks, he allows you to look up to the top two cards of your deck to re-arrange them or send them to the waiting room. The Takiya on the right can pushes for increased treasure triggers as when treasure is triggered he gains extra power and the ability to twin. This can help with stock cleaning while applying pressure.
While Fafnir would love to have more treasure through bar triggers, excess climaxes in hand can be troublesome. Thankfully, Tohru the ever-helpful maid is here to help. The service she provides in the card above converts a climax to a character from the waiting room. This can be a nice cheap way of filtering out climaxes. As an added bonus she bounces back to your hand and provides a 1000 cross-turn power pump to another of your cards whenever you play a climax.

Tohru is a force to be reckoned with, and her backups are a testament to her immense power. Her backup on the left can punish your opponent for carelessly challenging your field as she allows your cards to banish reversed opponents. Her backup in the middle can be a nasty surprise in the end game as a sneaky money counter. Lastly, we have Kobayashi whom, despite being a lowly human, can refresh your deck without causing damage.
Tohru and Fafnir have many other tools at their disposal. Fafnir’s personal brainstorm gives a nice stare-down ability to characters in front of him, freezing any runners and locking them in their place with his menacing look. 3/2 Tohru is an additional secondary finisher worth mentioning, as she’s an Icy Tail that makes use of extra bars in hand as free discard material on swing.
Like many others of his kind, Fafnir has ventured into the human world a curious decision considering he had decided to leave his treasure stash vulnerable. Perhaps in an odd turn of events, like Tohru, he has found something greater, something that could never be found in the other world. Despite this, some things will never change his reclusive nature and his habits of protecting stashes of treasure.
