Nijigasaki – Kasumi/Shizuku OTP (Y) [10/07/2022]

Shizuku Osaka and Kasumi Nakasu can be considered opposites in some ways. Shizuku is often the shyer type with a gentler and softer attitude. In contrast, Kasumi is more outgoing with a hypercompetitive outlook. Despite their distinctive styles, the two make a great pair that are close friends that cover each other’s weaknesses.

This deck was suggested by Wilner.

Kasumi is our finisher. She has an interesting resonator ability where she gives all your other characters the ability on damage cancel to deal two damage to your opponent. When your climax is played, you may pay the resonate cost, allowing you to stack the ability multiple times if you do so happen to have the requirements (one of them being the resonate target is another copy of herself; however, this can be played around with).

Shizuku is our early advantage combo. Her combo lets you either search or salvage one of two cards, the first being the level 3 Kasumi in the previous paragraph or the other being the Shizuku in the center. She may also change, at the start of your climax phase, into the Shizuku in the center from your waiting room.

The Shizuku in the center is a large power pump when she’s played to stage from hand or waiting room. She can also swap herself into your level 1 combo at the start of your climax phase. In this way, you are theoretically playing eight copies of your combo, interchangeably swapping to the form as needed for your situation.

Kasumi here is crucial to the deck with a very interesting unique ability that works very well in this deck specifically. If you do fulfill her recollection condition, essentially having a copy of her in memory, she can replicate the name of any “Kasumi” card on your field. This works great with any resonate requirements, acting as extra copies of your finisher Kasumi, “brainstorm” Kasumi, and more. Her last ability lets you filter herself away for a character from your waiting room.

With the level 1 Shizuku having the CHANGE keyword on her card, the Shizuku on the left is able to readily salvage your level 1 Shizuku combo for a cheap cost or any other CHANGE cards for that matter. Furthermore, the Shizuku on the right has a Pina effect, which ensures that your Shizuku can survive until your next turn.

To help ensure our plan goes through, we have this beautiful event above which ensures we get the right climax we need in hand. With its discard cost of a character to grab a climax, we can further ensure targets for Shizuku to salvage in the early game.

Since most of our deck is based around level 1 or higher synergies, both Shizukus here are great ways to filter and maintain hand advantage. The Shizuku on the left is a Chiyuri profile to help fix hand and potentially grab the much coveted climax fetcher event while filling up the waiting room. The Shizuku on the right is a great going second card that rids the opponent of any lone character in the front with no cost, ideal for popping your opponent’s first turn play. More importantly, she bounces back to your hand at the start of your opponent’s draw step if the top card of your deck is level 1 or higher.

The Kasumi above here is very important for the deck as a consistent way of milling and regaining hand as your pseudo brainstormer. The level assist ability is nice, but her second ability to resonate with herself to add a character to hand from the top three cards of your deck is great. She is one of the cards as previously mentioned by the resonator Kasumi.

There aren’t any backups that specifically come to mind to benefit this deck in particular. Considering that almost all effects are based solely during your turn and both Shizuku and Kasumi return to their base powers after, they are usually expected to enter the waiting room during your opponent’s turn to be recycled again the turn after. However, if you wish to be a little frisky, the Kasumi event counter above gives a free encore ability to one of your characters. The second effect of eliminating a trait off one of your opponent’s characters may be relevant in some rare matchups.

1/1 Shizuku stock Adachi is a great option to consider. Her CHANGE target is not as useful in this deck, but since she does carry the CHANGE keyword, she can be salvaged by 0/0 Shizuku. Aside from the event to grab a climax to hand, Kasumi does have her own Koume effect when she’s sent to waiting room. Lastly, a few copies of the 3/2 Kasumi on-reverse healer is nice since it’s a filter for your deck to hopefully grab other pieces in a pinch while providing some healing value.

Many Kasumi pieces give additional boosts if you possess multiple copies of them in hand for resonating. Keep in mind that this 0/0 Kasumi can always “replicate” your other Kasumi cards on field, letting you net even more value in the long run. Modify and build your hand accordingly to try and maximize your Kasumin’s value. Kasumi and Shizuku are truly OTP (One True Partners).
