Hololive – 3rd Generation Rabbit Sacrifice (R/B) [09/10/2022]

I remember watching the old Looney Tunes cartoons as a kid and wondering what hasenpfeffer was. Well, hasenpfeffer, for those who do not know, is a dish from Eastern Europe that consists of stuffing hasen (hare) and pfeffer (pepper) together. In relation to this writing, our chef for this article consists of the delightful captain cook, Houshou Marine, and her squeamish ingredient, Pekora Usada.

Our professional chef above is a great “value” finisher. Her climax ability carries a cheap cost to both deal damage to your opponent and pump herself with power for the turn. The greatest part of Marine comes with her on-play ability to sacrifice another character on the stage to both refund a stock and add a card to hand (you get to choose which card goes where).

Our little game meat ingredient carrot toiling member is our early game advantage engine. Pekora is a reverse combo that allows you to reveal the top four cards from your deck on-reverse with her climax to add a single character to hand while pumping herself by an additional 1000 power on the following turn.

Who are our unlucky victims? Why, there’s no better options than our nice cheerful rabbits above. Both Pekora cards above share one distinctive feature that makes them prime for sacrifice. Both Pekora cards carry an evasive ability that helps them remain on the field. The Pekora assist on the left returns itself to field when sent to waiting room by getting rid of its marker on play. The Pekora to the right can run to the backrow during your opponent’s turn for a single stock, making her great to prepare as fodder during your following turn.

The captain’s wrath is inevitable. Aside from our big finisher Marine, Marine has other sacrifice targeting cards. The Marine on the left is a power pump on-swing, and her second ability lets you sacrifice another character to tuck herself into the backrow after she swings, letting you have another potential beater the following turn. The assist Marine can act as a cheap way to salvage a character you wish for with her on-play sacrifice ability.

Rushia is an interesting addition to the deck. Russia’s dark magic allows her to be played without meeting colour requirement. Her 1/0 to the left is a great handfix card that can also be used to pump your Pekoras for more power or cycle hand gained from the Pekoras for more targets in your waiting room. Marine is a level 1 reverser with a convenient climax discard ability to salvage a character.

Backups are pretty decent options if you wish to contest field. 1/0 Pekora does get bulky on your opponent’s turn, so you may be able to maintain some field with a bit of luck. Both Pekora and Marine here perform the same function as 2000 powered backups. Pekora refunds your stock from the top of your deck while Marine is completely costless.

Make sure to stick a few Pekora healers in there at the very least since, although Marine is a great finisher, she doesn’t possess any healing capabilities. 1/1 support Pekora can be used over the 2/1 Marine support if you wish to have more early game power. Her niche healing ability can make use of extra stock. Rushia is a nice brainstorm for the deck with another great stock generating alarm ability. Lastly, make note of the beater 0/0 Rushia. With Marine‘s sacrifice ability, you can force her 1 or less other on field power while maintain three swings that same turn. Make sure to season your rabbit properly before presenting this stew with supreme chef Marine.
