Fate/Apo – Playing with Jack the Ripper (B) [08/29/2022]

Jack the Ripper is a very pleasant spirit that embodies the visuals of a little girl. Loving nothing more than her signature pair of twin knives, she prowls the streets looking for enemies to slay and literally “rip” apart.

Yes, yes. I know the title mentions Jack, so it should probably be about Jack. Hear me out here, Siegfried is the main finisher of the deck. Sieg is a great healer, but more importantly, Sieg performs two main duties for this deck. Firstly, he combos with a book, which is important considering the heavy costs for Jack’s finishing effect. Secondly, his combo deals a large amount of damage to the opponent, damage that Jack will hopefully be able to close the game with. As such, Sieg is an incredibly great partner for this deck.

Jack has arrived above as the assassin of black. Jack is a very potent finisher, meaning she’s extremely potent at that single purpose of closing out the game at its final stage. While Sieg does the heavy lifting of dealing the large chunk of damage, Jack snipes the last bits of damage into the opponent’s clock with her on attack ability. The cost is rather heavy with a discard two hand requirement, but running eight books works very well with her mechanic to potentially net extra hand when your other characters attack. Reika is her bonder with a specialized Pina effect just for our little assassin of black (any cards with the name of assassin).

Our beautiful boy in his signature outfit is our level 1 combo of choice as Astolfo does it all. Being both a book combo and a way to add extra hand, Astolfo is extremely great to net all the resources for Jack.

Some great cards to add to the deck are shown above. Little bloody Jack clutching the phone is mostly a free filter for your deck most of the time. As the deck runs all blue characters outside of climaxes, Jack will normally be a common free hand fix outlet that’s repeatable on swing. Frankenstein is a nice way to gain extra stock, especially for Sieg. Lastly, the 1/0 assassin to the right is a nice bottom deck bomb, but more importantly, she’s a scry on play, letting you potentially ensure you can hand fix with the 0/0 assassin. Keep in mind that both assassins can be encored by Reika.

Sieg’s level 0 is an extremely great addition to the deck as a spawn card. Sieg spawns any card from your deck that meets his conditions, which can also cheat around the Sieg on the right’s on play condition due to spawning him out. Sieg can also spawn other characters like Frankenstein, being a card with quite a bit of flexibility to get what you need on stage.

The last card to mention and most likely a surprise to your opponent will be the assassin above. This Jack gains power when you fulfill her condition, making her a 13500 powered beat-stick, a beast that most decks would likely struggle with, potentially even beating some level 3s in.

In terms of backups, Frankenstein is the best option. Since the deck wants to be running all characters that are blue, the only option available is Frankenstein. Frankenstein is conveniently an anti-change backup.

Some final suggestions to the deck are a variety of filters to play around with. The order of your attacks matter greatly in this deck as you always want to close out your opponent’s clock with Jack’s innate finishing ability. Remember that Seig’s level 0 spawner is incredibly flexible. Although you can grab his level 1 beater, there are plenty of other options that could fit your needs or perform other goals. Gather resources and tactfully slice and dice your opponent with Seig and Jack!
