No Game No Life – God’s Challenge (Y/B) [08/01/2022]

[ ] is often considered the peak of humanity. With their combined efforts, they even managed to defeat a god in a game of chess, leading them into the magical world of Disboard. In this world, much to the pair’s delight, they must traverse the various realms and beat conflicts through participating in various games. This deck is a tribute to their mission where we also choose to challenge a god.

Just as Sora’s climax is titled, we too wish to overthrow a deity. Sora’s effect is aptly on flavour by using the most powerful cards in your deck (level 3s) as weapons to deal damage against your opponent. In a way, it could be said that Sora is using power equivalent to a god as an effect.

Shiro is the accompaniment to our finisher as the other part of [ ]. Shiro is a large beatstick on her own while having a nice ability on-attack to check the top two cards of your deck and place one either on the top or bottom of your stock pile. This means you can push level 3s you check with her effect to the bottom of your stock to set-up for Sora. Just make sure that you don’t put all of your Soras away in stock.

Aside from your brainstorm, since our early combo does not regenerate hand, we have to find other means to produce hand to play out the game. The cards above are all great ways to make extra field or generate hand advantage in some way or for.

The pairing to the left is a spawn Riki, capable of churning out a cost 0 or lower card equal to your level or lower onto the field. This can be used to spawn your combo consistently to generate more stock, should you have the opportunity. Alternatively, it is a means to get out other cards as cheap swingers or supports.

The Sora in the center plays a minigame with your opponent while letting your rearrange your top two cards. Should your opponent guess the level of your card correctly, you get to draw cards equal to that number + 1.

Lastly, Sora to the right is used as a pseudo Amagi effect. You may run his vanilla pair Shiro if you wish; however, his second ability is more important as a means to gain extra hand. Additionally, Sora can grab events compared to the standard Amagi. If you do have a backrow slot free, he can be a nice power pump to help your other characters.

This Shiro above is a core card of your deck as a consistent way to force hand to stock. More specifically, she sends a card from your hand to the bottom of your stock, helping to ensure you have the requirements ready for Sora.

Events are quite handy for this deck. The Shiro event on the left is a way to force more stock underneath your stock pile for Sora. The center Shiro event is beneficial in turning stock into hand advantage. Given the amount of stock generated with the level 1 Shiro combo, spending some stock could be great, especially if you have means to generate even more stock. Lastly, Sora’s event is rather interesting as it forces your opponent to play a game of rock-paper-scissors. Should you win, you’ll be blessed with large amounts of hand advantage (especially with paper). Best of luck there if you choose to run this card.

The last card to mention is this early play which comes out at level two should you have its early play condition in clock. Shiro is a redraw with the opportunity to rearrange the top two cards of your stock. She’s tough to beat as she grows whenever your opponent uses “ACT” effects (character backups count).

Sora can come in clutch, surprising your opponent by lowering their soul damage (level 2s or higher only), and keeping you alive. He’s also a sack counter, helping to prevent reverses as well. Shiro is an antichange that lets you bottom deck the higher level character.

The challenge of the deck, ironically, instead of challenging god, is having to making do with low hand or struggling with hand gain. The deck is pretty great at ensuring Sora’s condition is fulfilled, but you may find yourself potentially in strange situations without level 3s to play. “Stack” the deck as [ ] would do, and bring a genuine fight in your quest to defeat god.
