Kaguya-sama – “Ai” Love You (B/R) [07/25/2022]

So what has the masterful second set of Kaguya-sama brought to the table for our favourite dark haired vice president and loveable maid? In this deck, we choose to focus more upon the blessed Hayasaka Ai as the main resource builder with Shinomiya Kaguya returning once again as the top end. We will be trying to make use of both older mechanics while adding some new assistance from the second set.

Kaguya returns once again as the finisher along with her drop search resonance friend, Ai. The game plan has not changed since the the last deck profile. Kaguya will be leaving many instances of burn damage to your opponent while making them think twice about defying the vice president.

Changing from the previous Kaguya level 1 combo, we are moving into working with Ai above. Ai comes out early should you fulfil her condition. The more interesting part of her card effects lies with her ability to CHANGE into any of the other three listed Ai cards written in her change targets.

Hayasaka can change into any of the three cards shown above. The Ai to the left refunds her own stock should you meet her conditions. She is a level 3 killer. The Ai in the center is a large beater that gains power for all your other Shuchiin (秀知院) characters. She has an interesting alarm ability that allows you to reshuffle your waiting room back into the deck. Lastly, and the main way of gaining advantage in this deck, lies our combo Ai that checks three and adds one Shuchiin character of your choice twice (separate instances) with the climax below. Ai looks dead inside.

Some newer additions to the deck come in the ever useful and resourceful Ai in her many forms. The Ai to the left is a filter for climax triggers, primarily those that help you add climaxes to hand, working very well with the eight arc trigger deck to continually generate advantage. The center Ai is a modal card with two different beneficial effects depending on what you need. Lastly, the Ai on the right is a draw Riki and a fleeing runner.

We will be reusing the old Ai bonder to the Ai event. The Ai event is a nice way to boost one of your cards power while giving two beneficial effects: pay a stock to trigger twice and stock a character from your waiting room upon reverse. This combo will turbo charge your stock for the late game and to push your damage forward with potential soul triggers.

The last card to mention is the early play Kaguya above. She exists solely to fetch a climax from your waiting room, helping you either prepare for the final stage of the game with the finisher Kaguya or to further gain advantage off your Ai combos.

The “cold vice-president” brings the defensive power to the deck along with a bunch of utility effects. The Kaguya 2/1 counter is a freefresh counter, helping to escape certain dire situations. Consider how large the Hayasaka combo pieces are along with the ideal timing when they come out, a 1/0 2000 power backup can be quite beneficial in retaining them for a combo again the following turn. The last backup to the right is a new Leafa counter, helping filter your hand and push yourself closer to cancels.

There’s a plethora of options to choose from in terms of other cards to run for the deck. Perhaps you’d like to turbo charge your stock for your end-game with 1/0 Kaguya. Maybe you’d like to have a secondary finisher in the form of the old 3/2 trial deck finisher. Maybe you’d like to lean more into trying to play around the Hayasaka event with the new Kaguya event adder. Customize the deck as you’d like. Just make sure to showcase the true bond between that of Kaguya and Ai.
