Dragon Maid – Elma’s 8 Markers (B) [06/06/2022]

As the hungriest dragon around, nothing can really satiate Elma’s hunger and desire for the gourmet. Fine dining resonates deeply with the grand priestess Elma. Exquisites, exotics, quality, specialties, these are all words that Elma lives daily for, working her bum off burning her skills in programming to pay off these bountiful goods.

Elma’s bountiful harvest event above is the key feature of this deck. Up to eight copies can be placed in the deck. The card essentially has two purposes: filtering the top card of your deck and placing itself underneath one of your specific Elma listed on the card as a marker.

The Elma cards in question that can contain the markers are shown above. The 1/0 Elma is a hungry loch ness monster, capable of swallowing any number of markers as you can provide her, gaining more power in the process. She does come with a demerit of losing all her markers if she starts in the back row at the beginning of the climax phase. The big boss Elma in the center grants all copies of herself 1000 power for each marker underneath her. She is a flexible beast with the ability to either heal to stock or retrieve two of the events to hand from the waiting room. Her combo does a humble single damage point to your opponent when she swings with the climax on the right in play. Keep in mind that she grants all copies of herself 1000 for each marker, meaning if you have all eight markers underneath her, she’ll be 17500 power base, and this is true for other copies of her on field as well.

Elma’s form of retaining early game hand is to stare at her opponent and pummel them into submission. Upon defeating her opponent, Elma has a choice to either salvage any Human (人間) or Dragon (ドラゴン) character or pay a stock to salvage two of the event, making her quite a versatile combo.

On top of being a global support, Elma here allows the player to discard a climax upon triggering the two climaxes used in this deck to salvage any character. This is a great deal to help prepare your hand for the following turns and onward.

Some other key cards are shown here. Shouta is the brainstorm of choice. On top of actually being able to fetch events, Shouta’s on-play scry can help to check or push for the main event’s condition to go off. Kobayashi performs a similar task as well, but she’s also a bonder to the event. Lucoa is a way to potentially regenerate hand without paying stock, ideally netting either a level one character or an event hopefully.

Generally speaking, backups are not encouraged as most of your pieces on board are weak on your opponent’s turn. Lucoa is an optional choice mostly for her healing ability. Complete the challenge and try to stack your 3/2 Elma with eight markers underneath herself. Make use of Elma’s event to quickly filter through your deck while maintaining advantage. Remember that Elma’s event replaces herself, so feel free to spam it as much as you can. Help feed our strong chubby priestess!
