The “Amagi” Profile

There’s no better pair than bar + Amagi or pants + Amagi. Amagi is one of the greatest ways to add hand in the game with little to no investment. Although predominately a backrow support card, its ability activates as long as its on the field, meaning one can even use it as an emergency attacker if need be.

Amagi, shown in her glorious outfit above, was a card released in the third Kantai Collection full booster back in 2016. For a single stock investment with the condition of a climax in play, Amagi would let you cycle through the top four cards of your deck and add a card that carried the condition listed.

Amagi is one of the best ways to add hand with a low cost. By simply having a climax in play, Amagi would all you to perform an Akatsuki-esque effect for a single stock cost without any discard requirement. Decks that primarily have ways to recycle climaxes to hand would theoretically always guarantee a returning hand as long as they had the means to pay for Amagi’s stock costs.

Overall, new Amagi clones haven’t really changed much at all. Primarily, the main function of the Amagi effect is to mill and retain hand. The supportive effects may be more beneficial depending on the deck using the specific cards, but all in all, Amagi does its job quite well and efficiently.

Keep in mind that Amagi’s effect triggers the moment a climax is played on stage. However, due to Weiss’ timing rules, you may perform other effects at the same time. For instance, depending on the climax conditions, you may perform the climax effect and then follow with the Amagi. This gives a bit of flexibility to the Amagi effect. Overall, Amagi is a great long term investment card that can draw out advantage over several turns. Make great use of its hand gaining ability.
