Persona – Execution (Y/R/B) [04/05/2022]

Do you hate losing? Ever look at your clock of six and decide to just go “Nah, screw it, I’m just not going to die today?” Everyone knows that the hardest turn to deal with is the final turn. Even with a barrage of a hundred swings, there’s always that unfortunate possibility that your opponent survives at exactly 3/6, one life short from meeting defeat. Now, what if we were to undo all that progress and extend the game further?

As shown above, the goal of the deck is to simply employ and play the event to the right, Execution. Using Mitsuru’s commanding prowess, the clock is completely cleared straight to the hand, reversing any and all damage done by your opponent in an attempt to end the game. Igor to the left fetches the aforementioned event while milling the deck.

Execution is a great event; however, it comes at a great cost. As such, certain measures need to take place in order to ensure that Execution can be “executed”. The cards above are important options to ensure that you reach a state where Execution can be carried out. Velvet Room lets you sacrifice a character and search your deck for any event, primarily the event to the right. Wild Call carries a bunch of modular effects with the most common one for use being the its choice of stocking itself and another card from the top of your deck.

Core to the deck are the cards above. Caroline acts as a multi-role support that provides a one time discount on-play for event usage. Furthermore, she carries an Amagi-esque effect, letting you fetch either Phantom Thief (怪盗), Twins (双子), or a card with Igor in its name when costs are paid and a climax is played. Haru is always beneficial as a potential source of free stock should your opponent cancel her damage.

Mona is one of the best options for the deck in terms of gaining early game advantage. Her combo allows you to either gain a card from the top of your deck with Phantom Thief trait or filter a card to force draw events and the like. Just make sure you are running enough red to carry her package.

To make advantage of Caroline’s mill and to work as essentially a free beater, the Joker brothers above are highly recommended. Depending on the opposing deck, these cards can be a nightmare for your opponents to deal with as free-standing 7000 powered costless beaters.

Other late game cards to consider are shown above. Joker is great in this deck considering the vast amount of Phantom Thief characters and high level cards. Without needing a climax combo of his own, Joker can still finish off your opponent with a bit of luck. Futaba is a great support that also grants an anti-damage ability with her climax to the right. More importantly, her climax carries an arc trigger which works very well with the Caroline Amagi above.

Two more great additions to the deck include the above. Igor is essentially a cost 1 redraw that can also bond to Velvet Room. Lastly, as a final ability, he can send himself and another card (non-climax) from your waiting room to the deck to let you get another draw.

The backups above are great options to consider if running any at all. Joker permanently answers an attacking nuisance upon reverse as a memory counter. Futaba is a free-fresh counter, making sure that your deck is chock full of climaxes when you’re being swung at. Mona is a 2000 powered costless counter for Phantom Thief characters.

If you’d like or up to the challenge, you can consider upping your event count even more with Take Your Heart, Margaret’s Tarot Reading, and the Community event. Remember that Velvet Room can fetch any event, allowing for quite a bit of flexibility. Make sure there are a healthy number of high level cards in your deck if you wish to use the finisher Joker.

Don’t be afraid to use Execution earlier if needed. Remember that being in the game in a disadvantaged position is still better than being out of the game. Bring forth Mitsuru’s judgement!
