Goblin Slayer – Resurrection (B) [02/08/2022]

It is said that sleeping with a virgin priestess will cure one of any wounds no matter how deep. Using the Resurrection magic in the series, the injured shall sleep within the vicinity of the gentle pure holy maiden, and then, when they wake, their injuries shall be gone in a blink.

The goal for this deck is simple. This deck is meant to delay death as long as possible by using recovery magic, “Reincarnation”, and maintain a low amount of damage in clock. As you can see, the requirements for the event above are quite expensive and somewhat difficult to pull off. However, the reward is more than worth it. One use and you’ve pretty much effectively cleaned out your entire clock, undoing all the damage your opponent put effort into hurting you with.

Building into the event’s requirements, the party (DnD reference) will consist solely of the two characters required for the event, Priestess and Sword Maiden. The above combo will act as the main end-game since it is both a Priestess and it works well to minimize damage going into clock with its climax combo. Furthermore, she has a come-in-play draw effect which greatly helps in trying to get the Resurrection event into hand.

Unfortunately, because this deck is reliant on only Priestess and Sword Maiden, her early play requirement cannot be fulfilled.

In order to pay for the event’s high stock costs, it is recommended to run the Sword Maiden combo above. The stock gain ability may be blind (no pun intended), but considering the fact that you’re likely going to pay it out anyway with the Resurrection event, its not too much of a concern. The book trigger also helps in trying to grab the event into hand.

Some other interesting options are noted here. Overall, the hardest requirement for the Resurrection event comes with its stock cost. Given a bit of tweaking for ratios, for the most part, it should be relatively easy to assemble a guaranteed hand of at least a single Priestess and Sword Maiden.

The Priestess on the left acts as another means to gain stock outside of the Sword Maiden combo. Furthermore, her neat ability helps with maintaining field presence potentially thus making her a decent card all around. The Priestess in the center works great as a power pump and top checker on-play while acting as an outlet for emergency refresh if need be. Lastly, the Sword Maiden to the right acts as a core support that can be immediately used to bond the Resurrection event to hand.

Given that Sword Maiden’s level 1 combo is a reverse combo, she may need some further assistance to ensure that she has the power to beat over her targets. The cards above are some great options to add additional power either during the combat phase or through other means.

Additionally, since the deck also relies on maintaining field for its strategy, primarily for the level 3 Priestess combo, having the backrow to the left is a great way to maintain power throughout both the player and the opponent’s turn. The Priestess to the right in particular is great as a secondary means to use stock, maintain hand advantage, and act as a tertiary power pump outside of the field.

An honorable mention is made to the card above. This card acts as a pseudo means of returning any level zero back onto the field with its secondary ability. This card can be used to mainly loop GBS/S63-065R back onto the field to ensure more stock gain the following turn (assuming this card dies during your opponent’s turn). You can even use it to resurrect a more important card such as brainstorm. Keep in mind that the card summoned by this card’s effect comes from the waiting room, so any come-in-play from hand abilities will not activate.

Unfortunately, there is only one backup for this deck available due to the name restrictions. Backups are highly encouraged due to the deck’s goals of trying to maintain board. Given how much power is present on the field, especially with GBS/S63-070R during your opponent’s turn, a backup can be used to save many of your characters and continue to stall out your opponent.

There are quite a few options to choose from when building this deck. Keep in mind to maintain a good amount of both Priestess and Sword Maiden in your deck to fulfill the Resurrection event’s requirements. Having a large number of level two or more cards are greatly beneficial for GBS/S63-065R‘s stock gaining effect. Furthermore, there are quite a few surveil options in the deck to help mitigate the chances that your level 1 combo will blind stock an important card like a climax. Use these cards to your advantage and ensure that your opponent feels the wrath of the clergywomen.
