Konosuba – Explosion! (R) [11/26/2021]

Megumin and Yunyun are two close friends born in the same village whom travelled away for work and experience. Despite their distinctly different personalities, both look after one another in one way for another. Megumin hopes to prove to the world that explosion magic is the best. Yunyun strives to become a powerful mage whom can be worthy of the title of future chief of the Crimson Demon Clan (and perhaps make a few friends along the way).

The main goal of this deck is to achieve the combo above on the field. The Megumin on the left, KS/W76-033SSP-SSP, is a discard and heal to stock. It climaxes with the combo on the right with the Yunyun in the center, KS/W76-032SSP-SSP, on the field (ideally in the front). When you meet her conditions, you pay her costs and force your opponent to refresh with one less climax (their choosing), send all rested characters in front of her and the Yunyun to the clock, and then deal three damage to your opponent twice. The Yunyun herself is an early play that gains hand encore and an additional 1500 power if you have two or more other Adventurer (冒険者) or Magic (魔法) characters on your stage.

There are many options to choose from early to gain advantage. However, for this deck, I’ve provided the two above as suggested options mainly for their relative reliability to gain extra stock or hand.

The Yunyun on the left, KS/W55-042RR, is a 6000 powered beater cross-turn assuming all your characters are Magic. When she reverses her opponent with her respective climax, you may place the top card of your deck to stock and then reveal the top card of your deck. If that card is level 1 or higher, you may add it to hand.

Conversely, if you would like to go for a combo that gains hand without fear of meeting any reverse condition, the Yunyun on the right is a decent option as well. This Yunyun, with her combo, lets you check top four cards of your deck and a Magic character from among them to hand. Her condition does require you to have a character named Megumin on your stage for this effect.

There are many options to choose from to build and cater to the deck. There are some options I want to highlight as shown above. The Yunyun on the left is a refresher on play if you discard specifically KS/W76-033SSP-SSP from hand. She can be used as an emergency means to refresh your deck if need be.

KS/W75-054U is an anti-level three beater with an additional effect. Whenever she reverses a character that is level 2 or above, you may pay her cost and search your deck for any character. She can be a means to grab the level three pieces into your hand while getting a nice reverse.

Lastly, the Megumin to the right lets you spawn a character equal to your level or less from hand when she is played onto the stage. She can be a way to cheat out one of your level three combo pieces while being a finisher on her own.

Backups are mainly used for utility in this deck. The backup to the left is a hand filtering backup which can filter your hand and potentially save you from taking damage. The center backup is an anti-change backup that can be used to get rid of any cheated target. Lastly, the backup to the right is a memory kick backup that can be used as a permanent answer to any particular threat.

There’s a lot of options to choose from for the deck. Regardless, make use of utility cards to maintain hand and field advantage. There is an alternative card for KS/W76-046U in the form of KS/W76-035R. KS/W76-035R lets you check up to the top 5 cards of your deck instead of the top three and doesn’t require you to take damage, but it does require discarding one of your level three combo pieces specifically. There’s many options to use when playing with this infamous duo from the Crimson Demon Village. Gather their power and finish your opponent off with a fancy explosion.
