Vividred Operation – Vivid Red (R) [10/28/2021]

Akane works together with her friends to defend the earth from the alien invaders known as the Alone. Equipping their palette suits, they rush straight into the fray as they meet in combat against the unknown shadow creatures. However, besides their group, there exists another character by the name of Rei, a mysterious girl with a dark past. Akane manages to open up Rei’s heart as she joins their team to defeat the evil Alones.

Just like all the other docking pairings, an Akane card (VR/W22-047RRR) combines with a Rei card (VR/W22-055U) to form the unstoppable Vivid Red (VR/W22-050SR). Vivid Red gains power as long as you have two or more cards in memory. Additionally, when she enters the field either through hand or the docking mechanism, you may filter your hand by drawing two and discarding one. Her combo with the climax below lets you send a level two or lower character on your opponent’s field (including back-row) to the waiting room if you pay her cost and meet her front row condition.

VR/W22-077CC ビビッドパンチ

Aside from VR/W22-047RRR being ran, there are a few more level one options I would like to highlight. VR/W22-101TD is a pretty decent level one that grows in size for the turn whenever another Key character is played on stage. Keep in mind that her effect is continuous, meaning that if she were to survive until your next turn, the power gaining effect would re-activate once more.

VR/W22-046R is a costless level 1 reverser. She also has an expensive salvaging effect, but it is an option to gain hand.

VR/W22-042SP-SP is a level three healing finisher. It is just a good card overall.

Just like all the other girls, there is a change combo present in this deck too. VR/W22-057R changes into VR/W22-059SP-SP which is a beater with a unique effect to pay a single cost to deal one damage to your opponent. VR/W22-059SP-SP‘s effect also activates when you play her from hand. She is the main option to close out the game.

The other Akane or Rei combos don’t necessarily add hand or stock advantage, or they unfortunately come out far too late into the game. As such, the combo pair above is recommended to provide the early game advantage and set-up for later. Given that many or most of your characters carry Key trait, the effect will usually fire off without any worries.

Compared to the other decks, Akane and Rei may not have the most powerful early game. However, this deck does have the upside of having the most finishing power due to having multiple damage instances. If you choose not to run the VR/W22-051U combo, you can also opt to run VR/W22-080CC as an empty blank gate, mostly for its trigger. Charge up your deck and blow your opponent out of the water when you hit the end game with your Vivid Punch!
