Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu Ka? – Hot Bakery (R) [10/25/2021]

In the universe of coffee and tea making, there exists a special family who runs a local bakery. The family of three consists of three women (with an unnamed father and two boys) who work effortlessly day and night to turn grain into beautiful loaves of goodness. Cocoa, Mocha and Cocoa’s mother form the ultimate trio in their quest for grain domination.

GU/W57-030SP-SP “お姉ちゃん”モカ

The main finisher of the deck is shown above. Mocha is an on-play healer that discards to heal the top card of your deck to stock. When she reverses her opponent, you may pay her cost to deal damage to your opponent equal to the number of other characters carrying Cocoa or Mocha in their name on your stage. Keep in mind that this ability is cross-turn meaning that if your opponent crashes into Mocha, you can still fire off the effect.

The main engine of the deck runs off the three cards above. GU/W57-039SR is a global boost for all your Cocoa or Mocha characters as long as the event, Hot Bakery, is in memory. Whenever the climax, GU/W57-068RRR, is played in the climax zone, all your characters also gain an additional 1000 power for the turn making this a potential 2500 power back-row support for all your characters with the climax in play.

GU/W57-036SR is you main way to gain hand advantage in the deck. When she reverses her opponent with GU/W57-068RRR, you may add a character from your waiting room for hand.

GU/W57-042U carries an Akatsuki-type effect as long as Hot Bakery is in memory but with a restriction for characters with Cocoa or Mocha in its name. Furthermore, whenever the climax GU/W57-068RRR is played, you can activate her cost and salvage a Hot Bakery from the waiting room to hand. As you can probably tell by now, all three cards combo around the same event and climax. The climax is shown right below.

Hot Bakery sends itself to memory when its played from hand to stage assuming you have at 2 or less cards in memory. During your climax phase, if this card is in memory, you can assign any one of your Cocoas or Mochas an additional 1500 power for the turn. Note that this effect is stackable, meaning that you potentially spread or pump up one character by 4500 power assuming you have three in memory. This is very important to help GU/W57-036SR get over her opponents along with triggering all the other effects with the requirement of this card in memory.

To help facilitate the Mocha combo and to gain further advantage, the two cards above are suggested. GU/W88-037SSP-SSP carries a Shima-kai profile while letting you scry the top card of your deck on play. She’s important as a secondary assist to help pump your GU/W57-036SR, so she can beat over her opponents.

GU/W88-038OFR-OFR has a very interesting effect of letting you blind stock the top card of your deck whenever she reverses her opponent when you have a climax in play. She helps you garner stock for the later game.

There is another memory option for the deck with the trio above. GU/W57-031SR is a hand filter that checks for Dear My Sister (Dear My Sister) trait. Keep in mind that not every card may carry that trait depending on your build for the deck. She also lets you send GU/W57-028SP-SP from waiting room to memory when she herself is sent to the waiting room from stage.

GU/W57-028SP-SP is another finisher for the deck that heals. She lets you ping your opponent for a single damage when she swings. If you have the climax and are at level three with GU/W57-067CR, in play, you can freely spawn her from memory onto an empty part of your stage.

GU/W57-047U carries a continuous effect where as long as GU/W57-028SP-SP is in memory, whenever she reverses a character (both turns), you may place the top card of your deck into stock. The climax for GU/W57-028SP-SP is shown below.

Some other suggested options for the deck are shown above. The Cocoa PR to the left, GU/W57-P33PR, is an on play salvage hand fixer that also power pumps one of your Red or Dear My Sister characters. Whenever damage dealt by her is cancelled, you can send this card to stock.

GU/W44-036R is a generic tap self salvage brainstorm. The main reasons to use this card over the other brainstorms is due to the name trait and its ability to match the theme of the deck.

GU/W88-036SSP-SSP is a 3000 beater if all your characters are Rabbit House (ラビットハウス) or Bloom (BLOOM). Her more important effect is that she’s a climax swapper which lets you change a climax in your hand to another climax that may be more relevant for your current or upcoming turn.

Backups are considerable options for the deck especially when paired with GU/W57-047U to generate value on your opponent’s turn as well. GU/W88-048SR is a free 2000 powered backup assuming you have at least one Bloom or Rabbit House character. GU/W88-P16SR is an anti-higher level backup that has a cheap cost and sack ability to remove any cheated out targets. GU/WE26-P11PR is a 2500 powered backup that has an interesting ability to deplete an opponent’s soul by one when the backup is used.

Considering the number of sets that the series has, there are quite a number of options available for the deck. Keep in mind that some of the effects have hard requirements on traits which are not universally shared across all sets. Furthermore, many effects may only target Cocoa or Mocha in name trait. Make sure to adjust your field accordingly. Do your best and make the bakery team proud.
