Vividred Operation – Vivid Blue (B/R) [10/03/2021]

Aoi and Akane are part of an elite team of defenders that protect the Earth from the incoming invaders. When the Alones invade the Earth, Akane and her friends rush in with their palette suits as they confront these alien foes. Aoi combines with Akane to become the powerful Vivid Blue who wields a mighty hammer that pummels her enemies.

As with all the other docking pairings, a specific Akane card (VR/W22-085R) and Aoi card (VR/W22-088U) card combine to form the powerful Vivid Blue (VR/W22-081SR). Vivid Blue, the card on the right, carries a built-in advantage ability as long as you have two or more cards in memory. Whenever she reverses her opponent, you may pay her cost and then draw a card. This works for either turn meaning if an opponent casually crashes into her, you can also gain hand advantage then if you pay her cost.

Aoi carries some relatively strong beaters with a big emphasis on defensive power. VR/W22-094C is a powerful 6000 power beater assuming you meet her simple condition. Given her low costs, she’s just a handy card to carry around for your early game.

VR/W22-084R is one of the more important back-rows for the deck. She comes with two very excellent abilities. Her first ability grants 500 power, but more importantly, it provides a level to characters in front. This helps your front-row dodge more annoying level reversing effects. Furthermore, the level incentivizes your opponent to either crash into your characters or side for potentially no value. VR/W22-081SR will be an even bigger threat to your opponent with this in the back-row. It also has a nifty hand filtering ability on play as well.

Normally single cost beaters at level 1 aren’t very worth the stock investment especially since the deck has a very high cost effect like the docking mechanism. However, VR/W22-090RRR is essentially a single cost 8500 powered beater during your opponent’s turn. It’s condition can be easily cheated with VR/W22-084R in the back-row. Normally, a Vivid Blue on the field would suffice for her condition. However, in the case that you can’t perform the docking mechanism, the back-row, VR/W22-084R, turns any level 1 character into a level 2, thus fulfilling her condition easily.

Just like all the other girls, Aoi also carries her own change combo. VR/W22-082SP-SP, the change target, is a healer that also combos for a very powerful defensive cross turn ability. Having two of her on the stage with the climax in play grants your board a cross-turn 3000 power.

A supportive combo pair suggested to run alongside the previous Aoi combo is the pair above. The other Aoi combo doesn’t provide any significant advantage besides temporary field control. This combo pair above helps to set-up for the early game and potentially net you a card out of the deal.

The last card I’d like to introduce is the counter above. It’s first effect helps you maintain board presence (keep in mind that you can choose a different character outside of the battle for the power bonus). It’s second effect can potentially keep you alive by forcing your opponent to hopefully over-swing.

Backups are great in this deck as they help you meet the reversing condition for VR/W22-081SR. VR/W22-081SR will then be able to more safely guarantee you hand advantage cross-turn. The backup on the left is especially good as a 3000 powered backup, assuming you meet its condition. Likewise, the vanilla backup on the right also provides 3000 power to defend your characters.

I’ve added further suggestions above as usual. Aoi’s abilities shine in her defensive capabilities. Make sure to pressure you opponent by establishing field presence cross-turn. Use VR/W22-081SR to maintain hand advantage. Smash your opponent to smithereens with the power of Vivid Blue and her “Naked Impact”!
