Darling in the Franxx Set Breakdown [09/27/2021]

Darling in the Franxx is a series that follows the adventures of a group of artificially made children known as “Parasites” as they uncover the truth and learn about the dystopian society build around them. In this world, humanity has retreated to specialized spaces protected from the dangers of the outside. Young children are artificially made and designed to fight against incoming threats known as the Klaxosaurs. A pair of male (referred to as stamen) and female (referred to as pistil) children combine to pilot a mechanical unit known as the Franxx to combat the unknown alien threat.

Darling in the Franxx came out in 2018 with a trial deck and booster.

The set consists of two main traits with the first being the Pilot (パラサイト) trait representing the pilot characters. Most of the human characters in the show carry this trait. All the human characters carry a single trait with one exception in Zero Two. Zero Two carries both the Pilot trait and Klaxosaur (叫竜) trait.

The other main trait for the set are the Franxx (フランクス). The Franxx are all level 3s in the deck. The set carries an interesting mechanic where two specific characters, the duo pair needed to pilot the specific Franxx, would combine to play the Franxx earlier onto the field. The cards that do so have the keyword, 合体, on them along with the other paired card that is needed to complete the change.

For example, the pairing two above (the Miku and the Zorome) would combine to form the card on the right, Argento.

Darling in the Franxx is a series which promotes a lot of pairing synergies to try and bring forth the level three Franxx bosses onto the stage. There are many Franxx to choose from and different build patterns to follow depending upon your choices or preferences. Best of luck as you combine your pilots together to overwhelm your opponent.
