Vividred Operation – Vivid Yellow (Y/R) [09/21/2021]

Himawari and Akane along with the rest of their gang form a group to defeat the incoming darkness. When the Alones invade and attack Earth, Akane and her friends equip their palette suits and rush into the fray acting as Earth’s sole defenders from the alien menace. Himawari when combined with Akane becomes the formidable Vivid Yellow wielding various powerful technologies to defeat her foes.

As per all the other girls as well, the main core of the deck works around the “docking” mechanism as present in the show. Essentially, a specific Akane card, VR/W22-004R in this case, “docks” with the bond target, VR/W22-001RRR and changes into VR/W22-006SR from the waiting room.

At first glance, the costs for VR/W22-004R‘s docking costs may look extremely tough to accomplish especially since ideally you’d be performing its effect at level 1. However, unlike the other Vivid transformations, her final form does not require a climax combo which lower the amount of pieces needed to accomplish the task, but ups the stock cost in compensation. As an upside, VR/W22-006SR has some form of built in encore.

Himawari may carry some hefty costs for her docking with Akane, however she does come with a few powerful cards of her own. VR/W22-007U may be a bit gimmicky due to the fact that she requires your opponent to be playing events to begin with to net extra stock. Her effect does state that the stock is chosen by the player and furthermore the colour must be yellow (this allows you to place climaxes to stock if need be).

VR/W22-009U may look rather unappealing having the potential to possibly swing at your opponent for five soul alone. However, you can also consider her effect as a forced mill that helps you get through your early deck faster. Keep in mind the effect works whether you side or front meaning you can potentially side high level targets and maintain the soul pressure without losing board.

The endgame for the deck runs the following combo above. Using the changer on the left, you can pay the costs and change her into the card in the center. The center card doesn’t carry a finishing effect, however she can filter through your deck when she enters the field from hand or change. Her climax combo is pretty decent at helping you maintain hand advantage when she swings which can also be used to feed off another finisher such as VR/W22-042SP-SP.

Another suggested combo to run in the deck consists of the climax combo above. The combo isn’t always consistent in guaranteeing you hand, but it benefits the deck in many ways. For one, the combo mills helping you get to refresh faster. Secondly, the combo mills targets for your docking pair into the waiting room, giving targets for VR/W22-007U and potentially putting VR/W22-006SR in the waiting room for docking.

Since the deck is based in the colour of yellow, the following events are options to be played in the deck. VR/W22-017U is a generic filter event that helps mill the deck and also grab a Key (鍵) character from the top four cards of your deck. VR/W22-018C could be considered as an alternative finishing condition while also acting as a backup during your opponent’s turn. Keep in mind that both of these cards will further fail the condition of VR/W22-051U‘s climax combo if they are played.

Do your best and try to get maybe two copies of VR/W22-006SR on the field before you hit level two. Himawari may not have the hand advantage or recursive power of the other girls when they dock with Akane, but Himawari can sure stay on the field for sometime without incurring any hand costs. Power over your opponents with the Vivid Yellow bond!
