King of Fighters is a fighting game series where several characters would fight against each other in different tournament backgrounds. Individual characters with their own histories and reasons for joining the tournament clash against one another. Fighters employ their own martial art skills and techniques to beat down their opponents and claim the rightful title as the King of Fighters.
King of Fighters came out in 2009 with a single trial deck and booster.

Many of King of Fighters’ cards feature characters from the early series. Characters carry an array of traits that don’t always mesh together. Many effects are dependent upon which traits are present on the your field.

Events in the set are generally split into two categories. There are many combat-esque events that are used to give your characters some sort of advantage mid battle. The other events are usually provide some sort of hand filter effect or way to grant you advantage outside of the combat step. Interestingly enough, many events are also named after iconic team divisions in the King of Fighters game series which can only be played if the featured characters in that team are on the field.
