For those in wonder, despite the fact that there are the same sets prevalent between EN Weiss Schwarz and JP Weiss Schwarz, the formats are completely separate.
As to the date of this posting, EN Weiss Schwarz still does not offer a ban list or restriction list of any sort. JP Weiss Schwarz does carry restrictions, in fact, a significant chunk of cards on the ban list and restriction list are available in the English edition as well. Furthermore, there are a vastly larger number of sets offered in the Japanese language edition comparatively to the English language edition. Lastly, there are English exclusive edition sets and modified English versions of the same sets in Japanese that sport additional exclusive cards.
Therefore, despite both versions carrying the name of Weiss Schwarz, they are fundamentally different. Neither version are playable in official tournaments of the other. The two versions should be seen as separate games.
